Lindsay Lohan Let Go Early from Ugly Betty

Lindsay Lohan and America Ferrera in Ugly BettyJust when I thought she was about to reboot her career…

Although she was previously scheduled to appear in six episodes (one last year, five this season), Lindsay Lohan’s run on Ugly Betty has just been cut short. The Mean Girls actress will now only be seen in only four. Why the change of plans? Well, the answer depends on who you ask.

According to New York Post sources, Lohan’s exit was either related to the star’s behavior or ‘s treatment of her. A supposed friend of Linds claims the show’s lead treated the redhead badly. “America was mean to Lindsay. Producers give her too much power. Lindsay didn’t do the last two episodes because America didn’t like her and got her kicked off.”

Meanwhile, a tipster from the actual production crew said the dismissal was purely based on the short timer’s actions. “It was a mess. Lindsay would show up every day with an entourage of people. She smoked 24/7, and after she left, they had to repaint her dressing room it was such a mess.” That same source claimed Lohan would also refuse to go on set before Ferrera did.

One thing the two sources partially agreed on was the story behind a de-pantsing incident. Those who saw Thursday’s episode know that Betty Suarez pulled down Kimmie Keegan’s pants as retaliation for a high school incident. But a rehearsal for that scene was supposedly far more embarrassing for Lohan in real life. During the practice, the set spy said far too much of Lindsay wound up being revealed. “Lindsay wasn’t wearing any underwear,” the source said. But the guest star’s pal said the incident was entirely Ferrera’s fault.

“Bull [bleep]! Lindsay wears underwear all the time now. She was wearing a G-string. And it was America’s fault. They were rehearsing the scene and America wasn’t supposed to pull Lindsay’s pants down - but she did. Lindsay was so embarrassed, she started crying.”

(Uhh—hasn’t everyone already seen Lindsay naked by now? Just saying…)

And while reps for all sides have, of course, denied any tales of friction, one element still remains missing from all the released statements: the actual reason behind the shortened stint. Check out the following statements and see if you can read anything into them.

America Ferrera’s rep:

“America is grateful to have had her on the show and thinks everyone should tune in to see how great the episodes are.”

Lindsay Lohan’s rep:

“Lindsay was scheduled for six episodes and is appearing in four but had a lovely time.”

Ugly Betty producers:

“Lindsay wrapped up her arc and is done filming. She did a great job and we enjoyed having her.”

Who knows? Maybe Ugly Betty is just as mean as Gossip Girl after all?

If you want to spot the tension between Lindsay and America for yourself, make sure to watch Lohan’s final appearance next Thursday, October 30.
