Dancing With The Stars: Week 9

Description

In tonight’s semi-finals, the final four couples got to choose the dance styles (one ballroom, one Latin) they wanted to perform.  Read on to see how they fared:

MARIE OSMOND (partner Jonathan Roberts)
(Dance: Quickstep/ Song: ‘Good Morning’)
It was a very entertaining and charming piece; it looked like it was stripped right out of ‘Singin’ in the Rain’.  They did a great job covering the floor with their sweeping performance.

Len said Marie brought joy and entertainment.  He thought the performance was perfect.  Bruno said the choreography was filled with plenty of content.  Carrie Ann thought it was wonderful; she said Marie really upped her game.  Score: 10/10/9 (29)

MELANIE BROWN (partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy)
(Dance: Viennese Waltz/ Song: ‘Somebody to Love’)
Melanie looked gorgeous in her flowing dress; it perfectly matched her graceful and elegant performance.  Not only did she have great lines, but she also pulled off an amazing series of splits across the floor!

Bruno thought the dance was fast, precise and sexy.  Carrie Ann said Melanie’s performance gave her chills.  She thought Mel and Maks moved as one.  Len said the performance was fabulously clever.  Score: 10/10/10 (30)  (Their 3rd perfect score of the competition.)

JENNIE GARTH (partner Derek Hough)
(Dance: Tango/ Song: ‘The Take Over, the Breaks Over’)
Jennie’s Sgt. Peppery outfit was appropriately fitting for her very strong performance.  Although her dance didn’t seem completely clean, it was very feisty.

Carrie Ann said Jennie finally seemed completely focused, but thought the couple lacked a little chemistry.  Len thought the dance was filled with passion and energy.  Bruno said Jennie was like a ‘red menace’; he complimented her ability to tackle the intricate choreography.  Score: 9/10/9 (28)

HELIO CASTRONEVES (partner Julianne Hough)
(Dance: Foxtrot/ Song: ‘Ain’t That a Kick in the Head’)
Helio once again looked quite dapper in his tux and tails.  The dance suited the charmer quite well; he was so incredibly light on his feet.

Len thought it was simply fantastic.  Bruno said Helio has achieved beyond their expectations.  Carrie Ann thought the ‘lucky leprechaun’ was mindblowing.  Score: 10/10/10 (30)  (Their 2nd perfect score of the competition.)

MARIE OSMOND (partner Jonathan Roberts)
(Dance: Mambo/ Song: ‘??’)
Marie looked like a Chiquita girl in her flirty outfit.  Although the dance was filled with a bunch of theatrics, it was quite sexy and entertaining at the same time.

Bruno said it was a frenetic, madcap mambo.  Carrie Ann thought the performance was fantastic and full of content.  Len said Marie could light up Hollywood with her energy alone.  Score: 9/9/9 (27)

MELANIE BROWN (partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy)
(Dance: Paso Doble/ Song: ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’)
Although I could have done without the crushed velvet, I liked that Melanie got to sport a sexy catwoman-esque outfit.  Maks was very smart to play off Melanie’s strengths; she’s outstanding when she gets to perform strong dances (with or without a whip).

Carrie Ann said the dance was powerful and dynamic.  Len thought it was another fantastic Paso Doble from the couple.  Bruno noted Melanie’s precise footwork and sharp turns; he said she was a star.  Score: 10/10/10 (30)  (Their 4th perfect score; their first perfect night.)

JENNIE GARTH (partner Derek Hough)
(Dance: Cha-cha-cha/ Song: ‘Mustang Sally’)
Jennie looked fantastic in her gold/black fringe number; it perfectly showcased her transformed dancer’s body.  This was by far her sexiest - and most confident - performance yet.

Len said it was obvious how much she had developed since since her first week in the competition.  Bruno said that Jennie had finally tapped into her star power; he thought she was brilliant.  Carrie Ann said Jennie finally came together.  Score: 10/10/10 (30)  (Their 1st perfect score of the competition.)

HELIO CASTRONEVES (partner Julianne Hough)
(Dance: Cha-cha-cha/ Song: ‘Love Rollercoaster’)
This was a great routine; it had a fun, slick disco feel.  The choreography was filled with splashy spins as well.

Bruno said Helio was ‘King of the Great Ride’.  Carrie Ann thought Helio was a star.  Len said Helio and Julianne were the standout couple to beat.  Score: 10/10/10 (30)  (Their 3rd perfect score; their first perfect night.)
