Dancing With The Stars: Week 7

DWTS

The Final Six competitors performed two full dances tonight—a ballroom and a Latin number (no group dances this time around).  Read on to see how they fared:

HELIO CASTRONEVES (partner Julianne Hough)
(Dance: Tango/ Song: ‘The Jean Genie’)
Helio looks like he’s wearing a black, crushed-velvet version of something from The Love Boat.  He’s very stiff and awkward tonight, though it’s hard to tell if the jacket or his dancing is to blame.  Len complained about Helio’s lack of ‘heel leads’.  Bruno said the technical aspects of the dance needed more polish.  Carrie Ann really liked the performance; she thought it was a nice twist on the tango.  Score: 9/8/8 (25)

MARIE OSMOND (partner Jonathan Roberts)
(Dance: Quickstep/ Song: ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy’)
Marie looks great—I could really see her as an Andrews Sister.  It’s obvious she’s having a lot of fun with her dance tonight; I think this style suits her well.  Bruno said her performance was a morale booster.  Carrie Ann thought it was wonderful.  Len said entertainment runs through Marie’s veins; he liked that she put a lot of twist into her dance.  Score: 10/9/9 (27)

MELANIE BROWN (partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy)
(Dance: Foxtrot/ Song: ‘Jimmy Mack’)
I really liked that she was given pants to wear; it was nice seeing something out of the norm for the female dancers.  I think she looks smooth gliding across the floor tonight.  Carrie Ann felt the performance was a hair out of sync.  Len loved her arms but thought the footwork was off.  Bruno agreed with Len; he thought the footwork needed some finesse.  Score: 8/8/8 (24)

JANE SEYMOUR (partner Tony Dovolani)
(Dance: Quickstep/ Song: ‘I Walk the Line’)
Although I think her dress is cute and flirty, it also looks like it was made out of toilet paper.  Go figure.  I think the style of dance works for her.  She weighs like 10 lbs, so she’s already light on her feet.  Although he thought she was elegant, Len criticized Jane’s poor footwork.  Bruno recommended that she work on the fine details.  Carrie Ann thought the dance was executed well, she just wanted more excitement from the performance.  Score: 8/8/8 (24)

JENNIE GARTH (partner Derek Hough)
(Dance: Viennese Waltz/ Song: ‘Runaway’)
I love her gorgeous ice blue gown; it really complemented the beautiful dance.  I was really impressed with Jennie tonight.  This was the first time I could imagine her winning the whole thing.  Bruno said she was fluid like a water nymph; unfortunately, she didn’t sustain the same level throughout the dance.  Carrie Ann commented on Jennie’s ‘broken lines’.  Len said there wasn’t enough Viennese Waltz in the choreography.  Score: 8/8/9 (25)

CAMERON MATHISON (partner Edyta Sliwinska)
(Dance: Quickstep/ Song: ‘Why Can’t I Be You?’)
Wow—what an energetic entrance!  His footwork looks all over the place though; I know there were a few missteps in there.  Carrie Ann thought it was a little wild and out of control.  Len said he didn’t like the start or the finish.  Bruno said Cameron was such in a dash that he forgot how to do the steps.  Score: 8/8/8 (24)

HELIO CASTRONEVES (partner Julianne Hough)
(Dance: Samba/ Song: ‘??’)
I’m not really sure what to think of Julianne’s outfit tonight; it’s as if someone glued fur to her chest.  As for the dancing, Helio looks great.  He IS Latin dancing.  Bruno said Helio returned to his comfort zone.  Carrie Ann noted that Helio was more at ease with himself.  Len said it was fantastic.  Score: 9/9/9 (27)

MARIE OSMOND (partner Jonathan Roberts)
(Dance: Cha Cha Cha/ Song: ‘Venus’)
This outfit is just as bad as her Charo getup from a few weeks ago.  I’m really not liking this supposedly sexy number at all.  Is it wrong of me to say that it didn’t look age-appropriate?  She’s coming off as a desperate cougar.  Carrie Ann said there wasn’t enough ‘content’ in the dance.  Len said Marie made a good effort; unfortunately the dance had too much ‘messing about’.  Bruno liked Marie’s flamboyant character.  Score: 8/8/8 (24)

MELANIE BROWN (partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy)
(Dance: Paso Doble/ Song: ‘Free Your Mind’)
This is a really great song choice - maybe because it allows Melanie to don the En Vogue black cape.  Thankfully, her performance is as strong and fierce as her outfit.  Len said that Mel moved with passion and aggression.  Bruno thought she was an adrenaline-charged dominatrix.  Carrie Ann said she kicked some serious booty.  Score: 10/10/10 (30)  (Their 2nd perfect score in two weeks.)

JANE SEYMOUR (partner Tony Dovolani)
(Dance: Cha Cha Cha/ Song: ‘It’s In His Kiss’)
Jane’s cute gold number showcases her fantastic legs.  Unfortunately, I think her dance is still lacking a little oomph.  She looks a bit tentative to me.  Bruno thought it was a well-executed performance.  Carrie Ann said she did a good job.  Len liked the dance, though he said it lacked a few fireworks.  Score: 8/9/9 (26)

JENNIE GARTH (partner Derek Hough)
(Dance: Rumba/ Song: ‘Fallen’)
I think this is her sexiest number to date; her slinky white getup surely helps in that department.  Jennie really is getting better and better each week.  Carrie Ann said the dance was gorgeous.  Len thought it was a fantastic, romantic number.  Bruno said it was incredibly satisfying.  He thought it was her best dance so far.  Score: 9/9/10 (28)

CAMERON MATHISON (partner Edyta Sliwinska)
(Dance: Jive/ Song: ‘Boy from New York City’)
I think he’s looking a little awkward with this dance.  I’m not sure that he’s entirely at ease.  Len, on the other hand, thought the performance was fantastic.  Bruno said Cameron was ‘right on’ with his steps.  Carrie Ann said Cameron was becoming a really fine dancer.  Score: 9/9/9 (27)
