A 34-year-old Florida man has been charged with stalking a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.

Earlier this week, Robert O’Ryan was caught jumping over a fence at the CBS studio lot in LA. After he was confronted by security, O’Ryan first said he was there to visit 17-year-old Shawn Johnson. Since the gymnast denied knowing the man, he then claimed he was there to see Steve-O.

When asked if he was was carrying any weapons, the suspect - who had an expired concealed weapons permit on him - admitted having two guns in his car. A follow-up investigation by the LAPD determined that O’Ryan possessed “a loaded .45 handgun, a loaded shotgun, and materials classically used for kidnapping including duct tape, zip ties, and a map to the victim. Also found were love letters, clippings and other information on [Shawn Johnson].”

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office charged Robert on Thursday with one count of felony stalking and two misdemeanor counts of carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle. Although he is currently being held on $35,000 bail, prosecutors are expected to ask that the amount be raised to $220,000.

In the restraining order filed Wednesday, the athlete’s mother says Robert “believes that [Shawn] speaks to him personally through the television set and through ESP and that they will have a child together, he stated he would be with her no matter what.” Teri Johnson also revealed that her daughter “is in fear for her life, she is extremely upset by this incident and her entire family and those around are all extremely concerned and fearful that [O’Ryan] might try to kidnap her or harm her in an effort to make good on his statements.”

This protection order means the suspect will have to stay 100 yards away from not only Shawn, but her partner (Mark Ballas) and both her parents as well.

O’Ryan could face up to four years in prison if convicted on all the charges. He is scheduled for an arraignment Thursday.
