Mothers Day Gift Guide: Sottomarino sapphire crystal ceramic watch
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Wearables, Women, Under $250
We are kicking off our 2011 Mother's Day Gift Guide with a hot one! The Sottomarino ceramic watch with sapphire crystal typically sells for $499, but eBay has it for $159 for the next two hours and 45 minutes (that's 68% off!) Definitely a good-looking timepiece at an awesome price, and the ceramic is virtually scratch-proof. They're brand new and come with a three-year warranty. Oh, and it's the watch that Sandra Bullock rocks in The Blind Side, and we all know how much moms love movies like that.

2010 Holiday Gift Guide: SleepTracker Pro Elite
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Wearables, Features, Women, Men, Techies, Under $250, Under $500
Worn like an everyday watch, SleepTracker Pro Elite is ideal for anyone who wants to wake up alert and ready to start the day, such as frequent travelers across time zones, business people looking for an extra edge, students with fluctuating schedules, or busy moms who need to wake up easily (see our original SleepTracker review.) That sounds like just about everyone, so we figured it was a good candidate for our 2010 Holiday Gift Guide. SleepTracker may find multiple almost-awake moments within the sleep cycle. Almost-awake moments may also vary in frequency throughout the night. By monitoring your sleep cycles for optimal waking moments during the preset ALARM WINDOW, SleepTracker finds those almost awake-moments and gently wakes you when you're most alert. The result? You wake up refreshed instead of groggy.
You can pick up the SleepTracker Pro Elite for $175 on Amazon. There's a male version and a female version.
Will Alsop Alessi Daytimer Watch - Polygonize Your Wrist!
Posted by Finnian Durkan Categories: Accessories, Wearables, Design, Misc. Tech
Will Alsop has been designing buildings and public spaces in chic European locales for decades - Hamburg, Marseilles and London to name a few. Recently he has begun lending his designing eye to Alessi, an Italian design firm responsible for a wide range of products too high-end and/or cerebral for me to understand much less afford.
One thing that I do understand, though, is my need for ironic/retro kitsch - and nothing says retro kitsch quite like a neon green polygonal watch. If you are looking for something cool and ergonomic that reminds you a bit of the 80’s yet don’t want to wave your nerd-flag too high with calculator watch then this is the timepiece for you. At $118.48 (83 Euro) it is a small price to pay for a modernized piece of your childhood… if you were a child in the 80’s. Wow, having to preface that makes me feel old. Now where is my Prince - Purple Rain concert t-shirt?

eCO2 Watch Cuts Down on Carbon Footprint
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Wearables, Design, Science
The eCO2 watch is an interesting prototype that helps decrease your own carbon footprint. Of course it is a watch, but it also utilizes kinetic energy to pull in CO2 through its intake vents and spits out clean air through exhaust vents. While it seems that it would not make much of an impact, imagine if James Kershaw and Chad Garns’ creation was given to an entire city. In the meantime, when Earth Day comes April 22, it wouldn’t hurt to plant a couple of trees to do the same thing.
