Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx HD: Huge battery provides 21 hours talk time

Alongside the Droid RAZR HD that Motorola and Google announced this morning, there's also a version with a much bigger battery--the Droid RAZR Maxx HD. It's pretty much the same as the RAZR HD, with the exception of packing in 32GB of internal storage, and an incredible 3,300mAh battery that Motorola claims will provide up to 21 hours of talk time, or 8 straight hours of LTE-powered web browsing. The RAZR Maxx HD is 9.3mm thin, so a tiny bit thicker than the regular RAZR HD, but that's the price you pay to be a road warrior, right? Nokia Lumia 920: 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display, NFC, wireless charging, PureView camera

This morning Nokia officially announced the Lumia 920, its new flagship Windows Phone 8 device, and it's a beauty. The Lumia 920 sports a 1280x768 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ screen, 1.5GHz dual-core SnapDragon S4 processor, NFC, wireless charging, 8-megapixel PureView camera with 1080p video recording, and a 2,000mAh battery, all powered by Windows Phone 8. Nokia says that it's the fastest LCD that it's ever put in a smartphone, and it also has something called "Super Sensitive Touch," which just means that you can interact with the display even if you're wearing gloves. Nice.
The Lumia 920 will be available in five striking colors, our favorite of which has to be yellow. The PureView camera isn't the same that the 808 smartphones boasts at 41-megapixels, but Nokia argues that it's all about the optics and software behind it, and that the Lumia 920 will take stunning images, even in areas of low light.
Built-in wireless charging is another welcome feature, and the company will have a couple of wireless charging accessories that sell separately. Expect the Lumia 920 to hit stores in Q4 2012 in both LTE and HSPA+.
AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III pre-orders start June 6, exclusive red color

AT&T has announced that it's going to begin pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S III on June 6th (the same day that Verizon Galaxy S III pre-orders begin.) Items of note here: first, AT&T will only be selling the 16 GB model, which costs $200. They will not be selling the more spacious 32 GB version. However, they'll also be offering an additional color that isn't available on the other US carriers--red. That makes the three color choices red, white, and blue on AT&T. It's the season of patriotism, so, why not?
HTC One S: Dual core, unibody enclosure, awesome camera

The HTC One S, looks just like any other average phone on the market at first glance. It doesn’t feature the screen real estate that would make your plasma blush, or screaming specs to that blow your computer outta the water. Instead, what HTC has accomplished is that they've created a phone that meets anyone’s mobile needs. The phone features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a new 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 (MSM8260A.) The HTC One S will be running Ice Cream Sandwich paired with the newest version of Sense UI, making it one of the still few smartphones to run Android 4.0. Alongside the new processor, HTC has also beefed up its camera and software; the phone sports an 8 megapixel f/2.0 autofocus lens and HTC’s ImageChip. With the new improvements you’ll be able to shoot your videos in 1080p and simultaneously take snap shots. Lastly, and this is a cool one, the body is actually made by a plasma-heated micro arc oxidation process that results in a unidoby aluminum frame with a nice ceramic finish and helps this phone achieve its 7.9mm thinness. Throw in Beats Audio, and you've got hat amounts to a very capable smartphones in the One S. Expect this one to hit T-Mobile soon.

Unboxing Live 069: Motorola Droid X2 smartphone

We open up the Motorola Droid X2 in this episode of Unboxing Live, giving you a look a the first dual-core Android device available on Verizon Wireless. This is the follow-up to the original Droid X, and maintains the same form factor and physical buttons, as well as the huge display. This one is actually a qHD display, providing a higher resolution than the original Droid X that launched almost a year ago. One thing missing here, the Droid X2 doesn't have 4G LTE built-in, but that's a minor complaint for this otherwise speedy device.

Motorola Droid 3 spec leak: dual-core, 4-inch qHD display

What we've got above is a leaked image of the Motorola Droid 3, but that doesn't really tell us much about what's happening on the inside of the device. However, TechnoBuffalo is saying that they've got the goods, and if they are to be believed, this'll be a nice upgrade over the current Droid 2 smartphone. The display here is reportedly a 4-inch qHD screen, and inside there's a dual-core processor (similar to the Droid X2,) front-facing camera, and 8 megapixel camera around back. The other pertinent detail here is that the Droid 3 won't be packing a 4G LTE chipset.
Samsung planning dual-core 2 GHz smartphones for 2012

Samsung may be developing phones that run so fast, they'll leave today's most cutting-edge dual-core phones in the dust. The company apparently has dual-core 2GHz smartphones in the works, which would theoretically be capable of 4GHz speeds, says Korea's Maeli Business Newspaper.
"We are planning to release a 2GHz dual-core CPU-equipped smartphone by next year," the paper reports a "high-ranking official" from Samsung said. "This product will have the data processing capacities of a regular PC."
The report comes as dual-core 1GHz phones such as the Motorola Atrix and LG Optimus 2X, which was the world's first dual-core phone, are just beginning to become available. A phone running with two 2GHz chips would technically be capable of running at speeds up to 4GHz, though real-world tests almost never match specs.

iPad 2 details: Dual-core A5, cameras, launches March 11 for $499

Apple just announced the iPad 2 at their March 2 event, and it's pretty much what many of us expected - thinner, lighter, faster, with dual FaceTime cameras and much faster dual-core A5 chip. The A5 is twice as fast as the A4 chip, and graphics performance is up to nine times faster than the original iPad, which is, you know, insane. Despite all that new speed, battery life is the same, and the iPad will run for 10 hours straight, with 30 days standby time. Also unchanged is the price, as the iPad will start at $499 and will be available in the same configurations as the previous model - this time though, you can choose between Verizon and AT&T for the 3G model. Screen resolution remains the same at 1024 x 768, which is fine for now. The iPad 2 is 33% thinner than the original, and as you can see in the image above, will ship in both black and white colors.
Apple is also finally (finally!) releasing an HDMI adapter, which will mirror the iPad 2 on an external display at 1080p resolution. This'll run you $39, but we're sure that there are many out there that'll snap that accessory up quickly. The rear camera will be capable of recording 720p video at 30fps, while the front camera will do VGA resolution, also at 30fps.
Apple has redesigned the cover for the iPad 2, and they're calling the new accessory a "Smart Cover." It's a magnetic cover that sticks tot he display, and automatically wakes the iPad 2 when removed. It folds up and turns into a little stand for both viewing and typing mode. They'll cost $39 for the polyurethane, and $69 for the leather version.
The iPad 2 goes on sale on March 11 at 5:00 pm at Apple Stores. If you were thinking of ordering online instead to get it ahead of time, think again--Apple isn't going to be taking orders for the device until launch day. Hey, they've gotta make sure there are lines at stores, because those look good on the news, y'know?
