Google Wallet Update

In our opinion, the one big factor that limited the appeal of Google Wallet was the fact that it has only been compatible with CitiBank MasterCard. Not exactly something that the masses have in their wallets. Today, that changes, as Google has announced that Wallet is now compatible with all Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover debit and credit cards. That's progress!

Also added is a remote wipe feature that allows users to disable Google Wallet remotely, blocking usage of the app with that device and clearing off card and transaction data as well.

You can now use Google Wallet to pay at over 200,000 locations across the US. You can download the new update today from Google Play.

Square’s iPhone credit card swiping device in action

Remember that awesome iPhone credit card processing device from Square that we told you about a few weeks ago? Well, Kevin Rose just put up a video showing the Square app and iPhone hardware in action. Give the video above a look, as it’s definitely pretty slick. However, we’d love to see them make that credit card dongle a bit more stable before launch. The product is still in beta, but we can’t wait to see this go mainstream.

SquareUp Receipt

New iPhone credit card payment service SquareUp has finally been unveiled, and we’ve gotta say, it’s got our attention. The brainchild of Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, SquareUp aims to be a simple, sleek, inexpensive, and charitable credit card payment processing service. It works on the and , in conjunction with a credit card reader that plugs in to the audio jack. You get payer verification, receipts that can be sent via email or text message, and receipt signing using your finger. Even cooler, in our opinion, is that Square will donate one penny of every transaction to a charity of the seller’s choice.

If Square plays their cards right, they will be a force to reckon with in the small business arena. The service is in limited beta right now, but Square says it’ll be fully open in 2010. We’ll see if we can’t get a beta account to give you a better look at how it all works.

Digital Wallet Juggles Your Finances

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Design, Household, Misc. Tech

Digital WalletFor anyone that just can’t get the hang of their finances, Veronica Vail has designed a handheld Digital Wallet that dispenses with the need for cash, checks, or credit cards. It will track your earning and spending and devise ways for you to save. You can monitor your account, track investments, and make credit card payments. Fingerprint identification is used to access the information and make your payments so no one else can check out your private business matters. Still a prototype, we wonder if it could figure out a way to get us that money in the first place before we invest.
