Rihanna Unveils Second Armani Line

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers,

Rihanna for ArmaniRihanna has captured the "essence" of Armani perfectly with her second collection for the fashion house.

The "Rude Boy" hitmaker has teamed with Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani Underwear once again and the company are delighted with her designs. "Rihanna is a great artist. She has personality, charisma and energy, and has been a pleasure to work with. She captures the young and contemporary essence of Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans perfectly," Giorgio Armani said.

The latest collections from Rihanna - who has been the fact of both labels for the past two seasons - includes four t-shirts, three denim pieces, a boiler suit, shorts, shoes, a canvas bag in two sizes and a leather jacket for Armani Jeans, while there is also a selection of matching sets for Emporio Armani Underwear.

Rihanna has previously spoken of her desire to have her own fashion line, admitting she wants to be taken seriously as a designer rather than simply endorse a range of products: "I'm really pursuing a fashion line of my own. I want to design. "This is also a road that I want to earn it. So I'm working with designers. Designers that I respect, and [fashion] companies that I respect. I want people to really trust me before I just say 'Buy it, because it's mine.'"

Prince William’s ‘Deeply Romantic’ Wedding

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Weddings, Child Stars,

Fredrick Windsor and wife Sophie WinklemanThe wedding of Britain's Prince William and Duchess Catherine was "deeply romantic."

Actress Sophie Winkleman - who is married to William's cousin Lord Fredrick Windsor - was very impressed with how well the couple coped tying the knot in such a hugely public way: "I don't know how it managed to capture the feeling of amazing love when it was such a stunningly impressive global occasion but it did. It really was deeply romantic."

Despite her husband's regal background, Sophie insists her spouse's family have been very "welcoming" towards her: "When I went to my first formal occasion, I was definitely wobbly, but the whole family has been very welcoming and warm. And let's face it - all families are pretty complicated."

Sophie admitted she feels "saved" by fashion house Armani as she can always rely on their creations when she has to attend formal events: "Armani saved me. Very fashiony things I can't cope with and I don't know if they suit me, but classic stuff tends to work. Armani clothes are beautifully cut and vey imaginative in their own way but they don't wear you."

Items Du Jour: Japan Infiltrates Givenchy, Natalie’s Ring, and Lazy Lagerfeld

Natalie Portman's Engagement Ring-- Riccardo Tisci borrowed a little inspiration from the East for Givenchy's Spring 2011 couture collection, which was modeled by an exclusively Asian cast. Like last year (much to many celebrities' dismay, I'm sure), Tisci limited the guest list to wealthy serious buyers.

-- Don't you wish you could vote Miuccia Prada into office? Well, the designer says that a life of politics is not out of the question.

-- A touch of Playboy bunny, a dash of Pirates of the Caribbean, and a sprinkle of Katy Perry make for Rihanna's upcoming music video for her song, "S&M."

-- Oscar nominee Natalie Portman's fiancé Benjamin Millepied looked to dancer-turned-jewelry designer Jamie Wolf when it came to choosing a one-of-a-kind design for the actress. "We wanted everything about the ring to speak to things that are important to Natalie," Wolf tells InStyle.

-- Who is Karl Lagerfeld's worst critic? Himself! The famed fashion designer tells Vogue that -- despite designing for his own label, Chanel, and Fendi -- he "could do better," and that he is "never pleased" with himself. He then gets pretentious by talking about how he reads pretentious books.

She may claim to be a homebody, but lived up to her sex symbol reputation at the Los Angeles premiere of new movie Jonah Hex last night.

The stunning actress - who is regularly voted one of the world’s sexiest women - wowed onlookers in a custom-designed red silk Giorgio Armani Prive mini-dress which was slashed seductively down to the waist, leaving little to the imagination.

“Megan looked superhot and really was the star of the show. No wonder she has so many male fans all over the world - that Brian Austin Green is one lucky guy!” said one onlooker.

Armani Designs Alicia Keys Costumes

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News,

Sketches of Armani's creation for AliciaGiorgio Armani has designed ’ tour outfits.

The legendary designer created a custom-made wardrobe for the “Empire State Of Mind” singer for the European leg of her “Element of Freedom” concerts, which started last month. The items of clothing include a military leather jacket with crocodile print detailing, a one-shoulder silk chiffon gown in dark grey with intricate beading, and a stunning little black dress, complete with a cascade ruffle.  All the outfits are decorated with Swarovski crystals, sequins and beading.

Alicia and Giorgio have been friends for a long time and enjoy working together. Talking about her relationship with the fashion legend, Alicia has previously said:

“My friendship with Giorgio Armani happened early on. He started sending me clothes and then we began working more closely for big events. The first major dress we designed together was for the Grammys in 2006. It was a fully beaded black Privee dress that weighed about a ton, but once it was on, it felt just gorgeous. When Giorgio fits me, he comes in like a magician and twirls around me three or four times, checking which bits need pulling in and what should be taken out. He’s totally, completely involved, and he’s very gentle - I think he just loves women. I keep all the dresses that he makes for me. Many define special moments in my life and career, and I figure, eventually, I will work out what I want to do with them all.”

Armani TV

Designer Giorgio Armani isn’t satisfied with a mere cell phone that features his name. He and Samsung presented his premium 120Hz full at the Milan International Furniture Fair going on this week. Claiming that the inspiration came from his new 2008/09 Armani/Casa Home Furnishings Collection, the television comes in 46 and 52-inch models. Apparently his Brahms tea table was specifically designed to hold the TV. No price is available as yet, but we are still figuring out which came first, the TV or the table?
