White Carpet: Princely Fashion for the Royal Wedding

Prince William, Prince Harry - Irish Guards uniform

We’ll be giving the royal wedding our full red carpet coverage (or, more appropriately, white carpet), so you can keep track of all the fashions and designers. Up first: Princes William and Harry of England.

Reports say that the two heirs to the throne (Prince William is second in line, Harry third) will wear their military uniforms during the wedding. William will be in red, the color of his Colonel of the Irish Guards regalia. He has served in all of Britain’s armed services, three total. The Prince was appointed Colonel in February. The picture above shows the Princes in the black Irish Guard uniforms.

Prince William, Prince Harry Royal Household military uniform

Along with the red dress tunic, William will wear a sash in gold and crimson and a gold sword sling, but we’re told he won’t carry the sword to go with. A cap will complete the ensemble.

Prince Harry will wear the uniform of the Blues and Royals regiments of the Household Cavalry. He's pictured with his brother above wearing one of the Royal House military uniforms. Father of the groom Prince Charles will wear one of the Royal Navy uniforms. As best man, Harry will have the responsibility of carrying Kate Middleton’s wedding ring, made for her out of Welsh gold by royal family jeweler Wartski, during the big day.

We'll be bringing you royal wedding details, recaps and fashion updates all night long as the big event occurs on the other side of the pond. Follow us on Twitter to get all the updates as soon as we do.
