Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have given more couples a reason never to get married: they will never have an ugly divorce.

After over two decades together, one of Hollywood’s most famous, non-married couples have finally gone their separate ways. It was revealed today that Sarandon and Robbins - who were often mentioned in the same sentence as Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell - actually split several months ago.

“Actress Susan Sarandon and her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins have announced that they separated over the summer,” Sarandon’s rep told People magazine. “No further comments will be made.”

The two met while filming the 1988 sports film Bull Durham. They have since raised two sons together: Jack Henry and Miles Guthrie.
