Fox Hypes Up Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse

Cast of Joss Whedon's Dollhouse

Feeling quite guilty that I haven’t come across the Dollhouse trailer until now, I felt like I should make up for it by doing Fox a favor and spreading the love!

The trailer for this fall’s sci-fi drama (which you can check out after the jump) has been out and about on YouTube and select TV spots, getting many pretty excited about its premiere. After all, it is  Joss Whedon’s first series since Firefly, which went off the air back in 2003 (surprisingly with the same network his new show is on).

Dollhouse, starring former Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BTVS) favorite Eliza Dushku, focuses on a clandestine, illegal operation carried out by agents who have their memories and personalities completely erased after each mission. Dushku plays Echo, one operative who slowly starts to learn more and more about where she works over time—she becomes a known flaw in the system, if you will.

The series premieres in January on Fox, right before 24 in the Monday 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT spot.

Frank Miller Addresses Concerns of The Spirit

The Spirit is due out this ChristmasIn a recent blog post, graphic novelist/director Frank Miller addressed complaints and concerns aroused by fans upon the circulation of the teaser trailer for The Spirit, which can be seen after the jump.

In Will Eisner’s comics, the Spirit’s suit and hat are printed blue. In the posters, ads, and trailer, he is seen wearing black. Miller explained that due to printing issues, the Spirit’s clothes appear blue when meant to be black (take Superman’s hair, for instance).

Similarly, the black attire and red hints a tad reminiscent of Miller’s own Sin City, but he assures readers that the teaser trailer is just that—a tease. “To drive the point home, The Spirit, despite any accidental impression left by that kickass teaser-trailer, is a full-color movie. Sin City is, visually, a playhouse for black and white,” he clarifies.

MTV Showcases New Choke Trailer

Official Choke posterWhile things failed to appear very promising with the mixed reviews out there thus far, the trailer for nihilistic author Chuck Palahniuk‘s latest novel-turned-film doesn’t actually look that bad!

Despite the fact that I am as much of an MTV hater as the next person, I have to admit that they do help out a couple independent films here and there that I end up truly enjoying (think Better Luck Tomorrow or Orange County). With that said, I was extremely disappointed to read the bad reviews on Choke, although seeing that MTV is now airing the official trailer for the film got my hopes up a bit. They even have an interview with Palahniuk himself on the New Jersey set.

As for the trailer (check it out after the jump), aside from the weird porn background music, Sam Rockwell seems to have pulled Victor Mancini’s persona straight from Palahniuk’s very pages. The very racy and provocative film’s release date has been pushed back to September 26th.

Watch the First Seven Minutes of Speed Racer

If you’ve been wondering whether to spend your weekend watching (or Iron Man for the second time), here’s something that may help you decide.  You will know now whether the visual movie’s open is at least tolerable.

Given my unexpected reaction to Cloverfield, I don’t think I could sit through another movie that might cause motion sickness

At the very least, fans of Warren Beatty’s colorful Dick Tracy - or those simply with young boys in the home - might find something appealing about it.

Warner Bros. Releases Dark Knight Trailer No. 3

Latest Harvey Dent teaserAs everyone and their mother rushed to the theaters to see this weekend, they were in for quite a surprise as the latest teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Batman series played prior to the film.

Ever since the first screenings of Iron Man, bootleg versions of the trailer have appeared on YouTube; The Dark Knight team seems to have wanted to nip that in the butt quickly, as they ended up posting it on their official site this past weekend, which you can see after the jump.

Although the campaign for the film has bombarded us with clips and images of Heath Ledger‘s character, Joker, very little has been spoken of Aaron Eckhart‘s Harvey Dent, who ultimately becomes Two-Face. That is, of course, until this trailer, where if you look close enough, you’re able to see the scars on the side of his face when he’s holding up the gun.

Folks over at Warner Bros. just continue to keep us entertained, as they had just released new teaser posters a mere couple weeks ago (which can be viewed at Omelete). The film is set to be released in theaters July 18, 2008.

The Latest Incredible Hulk Trailer

While I think this trailer for is definitely an improvement over the earlier version, I still don’t think there’s anything they could do to make that green guy look less cheesy.

And am I the only one who thinks they they should have kept that other ugly thing under wraps?

‘s version of The Incredible Hulk storms into theaters on June 13.

Hollywood’s All-Time Low: Quarantine

[Rec] American remake is titled QuarantineWe all know that Hollywood rapes any movie they see as potential blockbuster meat, remaking any and every thing they possibly can. I never would have guessed, however, that they would go so low as to remake a film that was made just last year and has not even been released in the U.S. yet!

Yes, that’s right, a 2007 Spanish movie by the name of [Rec] already has an American remake that is due out this October, titled Quarantine. Both films follow an ambitious newswoman and her cameraman, off to cling to a story that does not end well.

The trailer for Quarantine, which you can see after the jump, has sparked quite some outrage, as fans are unimpressed by the , claiming it is a bad combination of 28 Days Later and Cloverfield. I personally am choosing not to support this atrocity, yet I know that Hollywood wins these battles because people go to see movies to see movies, no matter how unoriginal it is. If it looks remotely decent, anyone with ten dollars seems to jump on a movie like this.

Stand up in the fight against unoriginality, yes?
