Quote of the Day: Ben Affleck on Acting vs. Politics

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Political, Celebrity Gossip,

Ben Affleck in State of Play

“I don’t want to hold office. Every day that seems like a worse and worse job to have. Look at the level of political discourse now. It’s very depressing to me. I did a lot of research down in D.C. when I did , and it’s not unlike Hollywood. It’s a one-horse town. Everyone’s jockeying with one another for power, prestige, and image and they’ll stab each other in the back as fast as they can. The only difference is the stakes are a bit higher, which makes it sadder.”

Levi Johnston Gossip: Wasilla Mayor Reacts

Levi JohnstonOn the heels of his recent breakup with Bristol Palin, Levi Johnston made a startling announcement: he’ll be running for Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska in 2012. Johnston is perhaps the biggest nemesis of Sarah Palin, who was almost the Vice President of the United States of America. He has made numerous derogatory statements to the press regarding the Palin family, for which he later apologized.

The Palin family has not reacted to Levi’s political goals, but the current Wasilla mayor has released a statement. Verne E. Rupright spoke to Entertainment Tonight, saying “Well, it is a little early to declare. Usually, most wait until the year the seat is up.” (Which, in this case, is 2011.) “But since I am nearly old enough to be Levi’s grandfather I think it would be wise for him to get a high school diploma and keep his clothes on. The voters like that!”

That last statement was a direct dig at Johnston’s Playgirl spread, which was also a headline-making event.

Behind the Music Video: Why Bristol Palin Called Off Her Wedding

Days after very publicly announcing her , Bristol Palin created a media blitz by confirming that the relationship is off again. Johnston, 20, starred in a music video for singer Brittani Senser, which caused Palin, 19, to break off their engagement. She stated that the video mocks her family…and now, we’ve got more details.

In the video for “After Love,” Levi is threatened by the mother of his girlfriend. Levi is arrested by the police and taken to an empty parking lot, where he is forced by the mother to open a mysterious envelope. Upon seeing its contents, Levi pales. Soon after, he calls off the relationship. The implication is that the mother threatened the young man in some way to force him to abandon his romantic involvement with the daughter.

Johnston denies that the video has anything to do with the Palin family, but will not be marrying him as previously planned.

John McCain Cares About Snooki’s Tanning Bed

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Television, Kind Acts,

John McCainSnooki

When Snooki speaks, politicians apparently listen. The star recently lamented about the 10 percent sales tax President Obama placed on her precious tanning beds, and who was there in an instant to offer a shoulder to cry on? John McCain.

“U r right, I would never tax your tanning bed! Pres Obama’s tax/spend policy is quite The Situation. but I do rec wearing sunscreen!” the senator posted on his page.

I don’t know what’s most shocking: the fact that John McCain uses Twitter, the fact that he watches Jersey Shore, or the fact that his Twitter post doesn’t seem to resemble a statement from a 73 year-old senator.

Lady Gaga Fears Contracting Lupus, Campaigns For Sexual Education

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music, Television,

Lady Gaga in concert“Telephone” pop star is taking special care of herself to stop her getting lupus.

Gaga is not currently unwell with the disease, which can cause severe skin damage as well as harming many of the body’s organs, but is forced to pay special attention to her health to prevent her from falling ill.

“Lupus is in my family, it’s genetic. It’s funny because my mother told me the other day that my fans are worried because I did talk about the fact that I was tested for lupus. The truth is I don’t have any signs or symptoms of lupus but I have tested borderline positive for the disease. As of right now, I do not have it, but I have to take good care of myself.”

The 24-year-old singer recently underwent a series of medical tests after her aunt died from the disease. While she is trying hard to look after her health, the pop star is also busy campaigning to stop young homosexual people in America being judged by their sexuality.

Al Gore and Tipper Gore announce separation

Posted by Dennis Velasco Categories: Editorials,

Description

Former Vice President, Al Gore, and wife of 40 years, Tipper Gore, sent out an e-mail to family friends announcing their separation - “We are announcing today that after a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate.”  Forty years is a long time to be married and major props should be given to the couple as living a political lifestyle is not an easy life to live.  Look at all the scandals of infidelity and closeted sexual orientation that have reached the headlines in the recent past.  And the thing about the Gores, never seemed to be putting on a show for the cameras, the 2000 election campaign excepted.  In any case, it’s always a sad day when couples that have been together for so long decide to move on separately.  Good luck to both, but the question remains, “Who gets the internet?” (QUEUE: rim shot).

Joe Biden’s Big Deal Quote on New T-Shirt

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Clothing, Videos, Oops Videos,

If you didn’t actually watch the signing of the historic health care reform bill, you definitely heard about it or saw the video replay - and not for the reasons most people might think.

As he shook the President’s hand in historic Washington, D.C., while he was witness to the signing of a large piece of legislature, Vice President dropped the f-bomb. Oops. You can see and hear the comment in the video above - listen closely for it right around the 14-second mark.

Joe Biden’s comment (which was “This is a big f—-ing deal”) has now been immortalized on a T-shirt, which you can purchase on the official Barack Obama Web site. The shirt features the date of the signing of the bill and the letters “BFD” in big black type. This is not an April Fool’s joke (at least, we don’t think so), and sources say the slightly tongue-in-cheek T is well and truly backed by the Democratic National Committee.

Glee Actress Disappointed by President Obama

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Television, Videos,

Jane Lynch, who in meaner modes is known as ’s Sue Sylvester, thinks Barack Obama is “a huge disappointment.”

Like many other celebs who have publicly spoken out about the issue, Lynch believes that Proposition 8 should not exist. Prop 8, which banned gay marriage in the state of California, has created a firestorm of controversy and is a hot topic of political discussion among Hollywood’s elite.

“Shouldn’t there be safeguards against the majority voting on the rights of a minority?” Lynch demanded in her recent comments on the issue.

One thing at a time, TV stars. The Prez can’t get the war or health care straightened out enough to suit the public, either.
