American Idol: A Possible Paula Elmination?

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip,

Brooke White may have said her good-byes on Wednesday’s American Idol, but her elimination is still eclipsed by one that’s only been hinted at and suggested: the possible elimination of judge Paula Abdul.
Abdul’s Tuesday mix-up has already become the stuff of Idol legend (and a highly popular Internet video clip), the thing that will be talked about for many seasons to come. Many of the fans and public have been calling for Paula Abdul‘s head after she mistakenly critiqued Jason Castro’s second performance when he’d only sung a single song on the evening.

Only Four Left Standing on American Idol

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Editorial,

As the number one show in the U.S., American Idol has had its share of mis-steps and bad press. The scandal, the controversy, the mistakes are all part of the Idol package. And let it be said that no PR force is more powerful or more graceful at covering - and apologizing for - flaws.
Host Ryan Seacrest made short work of addressing the latest issues on the show. After saying they were “still out of breath” from Tuesday, he announced that the performers collected 35 million votes. He talked about Neil Diamond, introduced the contestants and judges and then pointed to two Idol alum sitting in the crowd (Gina Glocksen and Constantine Maroulis). But before any talk of elimination could be presented, there was still a lingering issue to be faced: one judge’s live TV mistake.

American Idol: Top 5 Night

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Editorial,

Neil Diamond week on American Idol kicked off with Ryan Seacrest announcing all were “still reeling after last week’s drama.” A quick flash of the judges showed Paula Abdul looking lovely, just before the Top 5 Idols were introduced.
Neil Diamond’s new album “Home Before Dark” will soon be released, hence his presence on the show. On the Top 5, Diamond said “They’re all good and they all bring something to music.” But what did they bring Tuesday night?

Scarlett Johansson the Singer?

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Movies, Music, Videos,
While we’ve become used to seeing musicians evolve into Oscar-nominated thespians (e.g. Will Smith, Queen Latifah), I can’t recall the last time an A-list actor has successfully made their mark in the music industry. But does that mean they should stop trying?
On May 20th, Scarlett Johansson will release her first album, Anywhere I Lay My Head. Her first single, ‘Falling Down’, can be heard via her video below. After listening to it, let us know what you think. Should she stick to starring in Woody Allen films…or could she possibly have a side career in music?

Time to Tweak The American Idol Formula?

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip,

American Idol is the top-rated show every single week. It currently has more spin-off series than even I can name, and gets more media buzz than the presidential election (sadly, it’s true). The three judges and all contestants enjoy intense celebrity, the performances are downloaded and re-viewed thanks to mobile devices and the Internet, and eventually one of them will win a recording contract which could rocket them to super stardom. So…what could possibly be wrong with Idol?
After seven years, American Idol is noticing a sharp decline in ratings. Sure, the show is still ruling the weekly numbers. Sure, the show is still commanding all sorts of public attention. But FOX also knows they can do better. Expect changes for American Idol’s eighth season - I promise, they will come. A new marketing research survey recently put out by the powers-that-be behind the show all but guarantees something’s going to happen. And that something could just be a host change.

Aerosmith tracks exclusive to Guitar Hero, not hitting Rock Band

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Activision, Downloadable Content, Music, Politics,

Looks like artist music is going to start becoming exclusive to specific brands, as it has been made public through Activision PR that all Aerosmith tracks are going to be exclusive to Guitar Hero. What this means is that, no matter how good the Rock Band Store gets (and it is very good), you will never see any more Aerosmith tracks appearing in that franchise. Sure, Rock Band owners do get one Aerosmith track, that being “Train Kept a Rollin,” but seriously, that is just a drop in the bucket.
What we are wondering is, as these music/rhythm-based games continue to flourish, how many other artists are going to sign on for the exclusive? What do you guys think?

Their base of operations is daydreamingboy.com, and their goal is support Castro’s bid for the AI crown. Last week, Castro was roundly abused for his choice to sing the famous “Memory.“ Couple this with exhaustion and chills, and it’s enough to prompt the dreadheads to action.
