Apple releases Do Not Disturb feature for Mountain Lion Developer Preview 3
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Software,

Apple has released a small update for OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview 3. Anyone running the latest OS X 10.8 Dev Preview can launch software update to grab the update, which includes a new Do Not Disturb feature for Notification Center. This effectively hides all banners and notifications from showing on the desktop so as not to distract you. They'll all be neatly stored and organized within the Notification Center pane when you're ready to review them. We're not seeing any other obvious changes, but if you catch any, hit us in the comments.
Dropbox will give you 3 GB of extra free space to upload your photos and images
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Cameras, Internet, Storage,
Dropbox has updated its Mac and Windows apps with the ability to upload photos and videos directly from cameras, smartphones, tablets, SD cards (pretty much anything that can capture photos or media,) directly to your Dropbox account. The feature has been in beta for a couple of months, and has now been rolled out to the masses.
Worried about all those extra pics taking up your storage space? Dropbox has you covered there as well. With the first image you upload, Dropbox will increase your storage by 500 MB. Then, for every additional 500 MB of photos and videos you upload, they'll grant you another 500 MB of space, up to a total 3 GB of extra storage. Even better, if you decide you no longer want your images in your Dropbox, simply delete them--you'll keep the extra 3 GB of space!
Download the latest version of Dropbox to get in on the action.

How to fix a frozen Finder, Dock, Menubar on your Mac
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Editorial, Features, PC / Laptop, Software,

A few minutes ago, my dock crashed in OS X. Everything else was fine, but I couldn't launch anything or switch between apps. Usually, people would reboot in this situation, but there's a much faster and easier way to fix a frozen dock, which meant I could continue working without having to worry about saving and restarting everything. In fact, you can fix a stuck Finder, Menubar, and Spaces as well. All you need to do is launch Terminal, and type in a simple command for each. Here's what you do after launching terminal in these situations - these are all case-sensitive:
If the Finder crashes:
killall -KILL Finder
(Or, you can right-click the Finder and select Relaunch)
If the Dock crashes and becomes unresponsive:
killall -KILL Dock
If Spaces crashes and you can't swap between them:
killall -KILL Dock
If the Menubar crashes and can't be clicked (beachball):
killall -KILL SystemUIServer
There you go! Easy ways to quickly fix system issues that might crop up on your Mac.
