Thursday Ratings: Viewers Enjoy Holiday Weekend

Aside from a few exceptions, it was evident viewers started their 3-day weekend early. On 4th of July, FOX celebrated a dual win on Thursday night.

- Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (5.7 million, 1.3/5 in 18-49) flunked 900,000 viewers.
- Million Dollar Password* (5.6 million, 1.3/6) dropped by 1.2 million.
- Last Comic Standing (4.9 million, 1.8/7) laughed off 400,000.
- Ugly Betty* (2.9 million. 0.7/3) had a 600,000 slide.
- Smallville* (1.7 million, 0.6/2) actually improved by 100,000.

Wednesday Ratings: FOX Reality Wins Again

NBC’s Baby Borrowers did a good job keeping the viewers’ interest. The parenting show helped the Peacock network place second with the 18-49 set. Meanwhile, FOX was tops in both the viewers and the demos.

- So You Think You Can Dance (8.7 million, 3.2/10 in 18-49) improved by 700,000.
- The Price is Right* (7.4 million, 1.6/5) saw 1.5 million more tune in.
- The first hour of The Baby Borrowers* (1.4/5) helped 4.4 million get caught up.
- Wife Swap* (3.9 million, 1.3/5) lost 600,000.
- America’s Next Top Model (1.1 million, 0.4/1) remained even with last week.

Last night, ABC’s Wipeout proved it could survive the sophomore week jinx. Meanwhile, America’s Got Talent widened its lead over the competition. When the numbers were finalized, NBC was the winner in both categories.

- NCIS* (8 million, 1.3/4) picked up 300,000.
- Celebrity Family Feud (7 million, 1.9/7) said goodbye to 1.8 million.
- The Moment of Truth (1.8/6) detected 4.6 million.
- Beauty and the Geek (850,000, 0.4/1) dipped by 350,000.

- Bones* (6.6 million, 1.8/6) picked up 200,000.
- The Big Bang Theory* (5.6 million, 1.8/6) scooped up 600,000; How I Met Your Mother* (5.4 million, 2.1/7) added 400,000.
- American Gladiators (4.8 million, 1.8/6) slipped a notch.
- Gossip Girl* (1.0 million, 0.5/1) was off by 200,000.

- Sports coverage of the U.S. Olympic Trials (1.6/5) averaged 5.5 million.
- The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1.5/5) nabbed 4.1 million for FOX.
- Everybody Hates Chris* (980,000, 0.3/1) soared by 280,000; Aliens in America* (920,000, 0.3/1) picked up another 240,000.

- XXX: State of the Union (1.2/5) pulled in 3.3 million for FOX.

American Gladiators’ ratings slide didn’t stop another reality competition from making a splashy debut yesterday. Last night, Wipeout had the best debut for any freshman summer series since last year. The show gave the ABC a win in the demos while NBC had a hold on the viewers.

- Celebrity Family Feud (2.3/8) premiered to 8.8 million.

- A repeat of Hell’s Kitchen* (1.3/4) pulled in 3.3 million.
