Fujitsu LifeBook Notebooks

Lifebook A6210 Fujitsu has released 6 LifeBook Notebooks with Intel Centrino 2 Processors. Here is a basic peek at the new line.

The A6210 has a 15.4-inch LCD display, wireless USB, an E-SATA port, and a touchpad for $1,149.00.
The T5010 is the successor to the flagship LifeBook T4220 convertible notebook with a 13.3-inch dispay and weighing 4.5 lbs. for $1,769.
The T1010 has a 13.3-inch display and weighs 5.3 pounds at a price of $1,299.00 with a $50.00 mail-in rebate.
The E8420, S6520 and S7220 notebooks are available now and come with prices starting at $1,359.00, &1529.00, and $1,299.00 respectively.

All of the LifeBooks come with a 1 year warranty and can be customized for an extra charge.

Arm-Rested Table Pad

There are plenty of mice that have been designed ergonomically to ward off Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and now there is an Arm-Rested Table Pad to ease a wrist, arm, and shoulder. Made of plastic, the pad features rubber pads, and can turn 180º when not in use. The grey device can handle up to a 5 cm thick desk, comes with its own mount and screw, is simple to assemble, and is available for $19.99.

Hitachi to Build 5TB Hard Drive

Hitachi is planning to release a 5TB 3.5-inch hard drive within the next two years. They will accomplish this with Current-Perpendicular-to-Plane Giant Magnetoresistance (CPP-GMR) magnetic read heads. The company’s Dr. Yoshihiro Shiroishi says that two of them will “provide the same storage capacity as the human brain.”

The way we figure it, if we only use one of them, we would still have plenty of space left. We know we lost a few cells back there somewhere in the last decade or so.

Vye S41 Notebook

It seems everything we found today comes in a mini-size. The Vye S41 Notebook features an optical drive and a convenient swivel screen. Features include a 7-inch WSVGA (1024 x 600) TFT and TSP touchscreen display, holds an 80 GB HDD, GPS, and an internal DVD burner. The device has been loaded with Vista Home Premium, an Intel A110-800MHz processor, and carries a price of $1,499.99. We think that if you get a Vye and a Willcom 9, you have saved some space the next time you board a plane so they can’t charge you for extra baggage.

Hyundai 3D LCD W220S Monitor

Hyundai has unveiled a new 3D LCD monitor that utilizes TriDef Technology. The 22-inch W220S appears normal to the naked eye, but add a pair of the nerdy glasses and you get interlaced stereoscopic 3 dimensions. The screen features a a WSXGA+ resolution (1680x1050,) a brightness of 300cd/m², a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, a HDM/DVI-D interface, and 2 built-in 3W speakers. Available so far only in Japan, it carries a price of €590 (~$908.00.)

HP Mini-Note 2133 first impressions

I just got my hands on one of the HP Mini-Note 2133 ultra-portable notebook (netbook?) computers. A few first impressions are below, a taste of our upcoming HP 2133 vs. Eee PC 900 Battle Royale:

HP Mini-Note 2133 wins:

2133 has a much nicer keyboard
2133 has a cleaner design
2133 has a faster processor (1.6Ghz vs. 900Mhz)
2133 has more RAM (2GB vs. 1GB)

Eee PC 900 wins:

Eee PC is cheaper ($550 vs. $729-819)
Eee PC is slimmer and lighter (2133 battery protrudes downward)
Eee PC has more USB 2.0 ports (3 vs. 2)
Eee PC is easier to dual boot with Ubuntu

Obviously the HP 2133 has a lot going for it, however it’s significantly more expensive. Stay tuned for more in-depth information about these trendy new netbooks and how they compare for power, usability, and value.

John LeSieur Zac Browser for Autistic Kids

John LeSieur’s grandson has autism and couldn’t get into computers. Because the man works in software and couldn’t find something already available, he created the Zac Browser, named for the boy. The browser consists of hand-picked free websites such as those with educational games, music, videos, and such images as a virtual aquarium. Extraneous keyboard buttons that would be confusing have been disabled. Not only was it welcomed by Zac, John is offering his program free of charge to other parents of autistic children. Our props for another fine effort from someone who could, and did.

ASUS Mini PC Nova Lite PX24

ASUS’s new offering for home entertainment is the Mini PC Nova Lite PX24. The supposedly world’s smallest mini-PC has a built-in independent graphics card, hi-fi speakers with Dolby digital Life/DTS Connect, and is energy efficient. At a size of 242 x 184 x 51mm and a weight of 1.5kg, it supports HD1080i/1080p and is packed with Windows Vista Home Premium as well as Intel CPU. Kenneth Lylover Surf Chair

Kenneth Lylover created his Surf Chair for the “Internet Collection” competition at the Scandinavian Furniture Fair recently. It’s easy to see why he managed to nab the Best Product award. The arc-shaped chair has a built-in LCD display, a mouse and keyboard for the user’s lap, and a padded frame for comfort. We think it is a fine idea for couch potatoes who want to go the extra mile with their Net searching or those who work best in a semi-horizontal position.
