Programming Changes for The Weather Channel

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Cable, News, Video,

MTV started showing everything but music videos. TLC began giving us household drama (what can we learn from that…avoid family life?). Discovery began airing its own original game show. Now, The Weather Channel is going to start showing movies.

Anything can happen on cable, people.

Of course, the network plans to stick to its main theme by showing flicks which largely feature - what else? - weather phenomenon. Beginning this Friday, TWC will have a movie night. First on deck is the flick A Perfect Storm.

March of the Penguins, Deep Blue Sea and Misery (well, you can only stay on theme up to a certain point) are also on the network’s programming roster.

Michael Jackson's Kids

Despite a report claiming Michael Jackson’s three children would soon become reality stars, the trio’s legal guardian says that simply isn’t so.

In the upcoming A&E series, The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty, the cameras will follow the surviving Jackson 5 members and will also include 19 other relatives with the same last name. Even though Janet and her mother are both expected to be involved, Katherine tells TMZ that the formerly masked Prince Michael, Paris and Blanket will not.

Paris Hilton Revealed in New Documentary

Paris Hilton Near the beginning of the , which recently aired on MTV, Hilton stated, “I didn’t really plan this, it just happened.”

“This” would be her unprecedented fame and fortune—the empire she created from simply being an heiress. “I haven’t really done anything I’m ashamed of,” she added.

Clips, weird camera angles and little snippets of interviews made the documentary highly confusing, not at all cohesive. In addition to following Paris around, MTV cameras addressed Kathy and Rick Hilton, Donald Trump, and others who have helped shape the heiress’s life.

Paris Hilton Opens Up in New MTV Documentary

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, MTV, Gossip,

Paris Hilton said she doesn’t “want people thinking of me as this blonde heiress…airhead,” but almost in the same breath admits, “but that is kind of my brand.”

This all takes place in the new documentary Paris, Not France. that gives viewers a behind-the-scenes (and behind the reality TV shows) look at Paris’ life. It of course sort of defrauds the whole idea of reality TV, but there’s no reason to keep pretending there’s anything real about it anyway.

MTV to Showcase More Teen Pregnancy

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, MTV, Gossip, Renewals, Spoilers, Video,

In what I truly believe to be one of the worst reality series ideas ever, MTV showcases young moms-to-be. Not that isn’t interesting, captivating and becoming highly popular. But it could also compel young women to get knocked up on purpose. The cable network appeals to a huge demographic of young teens…and now, all they have to do to become reality stars is have a baby. The first season of the series ends this week, but already MTV is looking ahead to the future with a second season.

Raising the Bar’s Gosselaar on the Overdue Haircut

Raising the Bar's Mark-Paul GosselaarRaising the Bar's Mark-Paul Gosselaar

If there’s one thing Mark-Paul Gosselaar should have realized from his years playing Zack Morris, it’s this: The hair makes the man. Unfortunately, it took a whole season of Raising the Bar before that lesson was learned.

In an interview with TV Guide, the 35-year-old explained the reasoning behind his public defender’s distracting stringy look. “It defined a characteristic of Jerry [Kellerman], that he’s not going to conform to a system. But this year, we had to evolve Jerry. He had to mature, he had to become more tactful. So we cut his hair. It’s down with a story in mind also with a client that he’s working with.”

Harris Poll Finds DTV Transition Mostly Positive Experience

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: HDTV,

Harris Poll

It didn’t take long for Harris to take a poll to find out how many TV watchers will opt for free OTA today. Fifty five percent said they are likely to switch to antennas and drop their cable or satellite subscriptions, while those under 24 seem the most positive about the switch. Sixty nine percent found that the transition will be “good,” and the company’s Jay Adrick feels that “consumers are embracing the change.” We are not sure we agree with the survey completely as most viewers we know wouldn’t dream of giving up their gazillion+ channels.

FEARnet Petitions to Return to Time Warner

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Internet, Movies,

FEARnet BackFans of all things gorey, unite. Time Warner and Brighthouse Cable recently dropped FEARnet from its line-up. In an attempt to get them back on, the channel has placed a petition on Facebook. Viewing is still possible online at the site, Comcast, Fios and U-Verse. Although they only have about 7,000 fans so far, we are hoping that a few more might change the moguls minds because, as we all know, there is always room for more zombies.
