LampLampAfter years of abuse, the common light bulb is now getting its just rewards. No more hiding under lampshades for this bulb. It stands proudly and exclaims, “I am the focal point here.” Okay, we are pushing it a bit, but we appreciate the creativity that has gone into the LampLamp. The E25/E27 bulb is 30 W, is available in 110 or 220 V, and is a mere $28.00. You can keep the shade for that next New Year’s Eve get together.

Remote Control Rubber DuckYou know we’re in a technologically-obsessed world when rubber ducks get the remote-control treatment. Still, it sounds like tons of fun and think of the possibilities: if you get two, you and your kid can engage in silly rubber duckie drag races! And don’t worry, even though the motorized bird seems electrocution-friendly, Duckie and the controller are both waterproof. The controller requires 2 AA batteries while the charger requires 4 AA batteries. A 5-minute charge yields 15 minutes of bathtime joy. Available for $27 USD.

Picket FenceIf you want to organize your extra cords, take a look at this clever Picket Fence that goes inside your home. Each piece attaches to your baseboard and routes all your wires out of the way. The gaps allow easy access to plugs. Although this is only a prototype designed by Karl Zahn for oboiler, we think this might not be doable for homes with small children who have just reached tripping

walking age or puppies who are not quite toilet trained.

Jeeves

In an effort to make a few extra holiday bucks, Mobile Robots has decided that its surveillance bots can do double duty. Jeeves will greet your friends at the door with “Welcome to our home” and a tray of drinks, but we are assuming that you have to open the door yourself. Brewskibot is capable of carrying 2 6-packs in its fridge and can patrol your home or office in its spare time. Agent 007 will also serve as security with its built-in camera but can scare your buds by yelling, “Police, freeze!”

The real point that they are making here is that you can make your robot a part of the family, rather than just a service object. Now if they could just offer them cheaply enough for us to bring one home. The bots will set you back $30,995.00, $31,995.00, and $34,995.00 respectively.

Hello Kitty

Hanil has learned to appreciate the value of Hello Kitty. After they retained a licensed contract from Sanrio, they began designing a whole range of gadgets that includes a humidifier, mixer, fan, toaster, ice crusher, blender, and a coffee pot, just to name a few. The only thing more unsettling than seeing a kitchen full of Hello Kitty appliances is the fact that there are those who want them. Hamil reports that they plan to expand their line in the future because sales are purrfectly fine.

Panda Chair

Next time you receive those useless CDs from AOL, do what Spanish Designer Belen Hermosa did with his Panda Chair. It was recently unveiled at the International Furniture Fair in Valencia.  We’re not sure about the comfort factor, but the idea is a viable one. If you score enough of the useless discs, you could probably build an entire living room suite, including end tables and ottomans. Then you could recover your patio deck, build furniture for the kids’ treehouse, and start selling items at swap meets. Just you wait, IKEA, you have tentative competition.
