Philips Remote Stands Up
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Home Entertainment, Misc. Tech, Movies, Music,
This remote may teach you that it is better to stick one control on a book shelf than to lose three in your sofa cushions. Designed by Chen Hung Ming in Taiwan, the Philips Book Style Remote has 3 “pages” to choose from for DVD, TV, and audio devices. It even features labeled attachments so you don’t have to keep reminding yourself which part of the remote to press. Contact Chen & Karlsson for price and availability. If we could just remember to put it on the shelf in the first place, we might just relieve some of the clutter of double issue TV Guides we can’t seem to discard.

Mediterranean Home Theater Feeds Your Head
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Design, Home Entertainment, Movies, Music,

We’ve shown you how to take your home theater outside or make it look like the Titanic, but if what goes in your stomach is as important is whats on the screen, then this Mediterranean-style theater may be more to your liking. Designed by Sound Components of Florida, the room features burgundy drapes and carpeting, with toast-shaded chairs and woodwork. It also contains a 73-inch rear-projection screen, a 110-inch dropdown filmscreen, and a Maranz DLP projector.
The real fun begins before you even reach the cozy retreat. On the way there, the alley allows you access to a huge DVD/CD collection, popcorn, coffee, a candy counter, and an entire wine collection. We say salut to that one.

The Show-Off T-Shirt Moves to the Beat
Posted by Lolita Beckwith Categories: Wearables, Misc. Tech, Music,
If you can find a more aptly-named item than the “Show Off T-Shirt” we’d love to see it. This tee actually has a graphic equalizer panel that is sensitive to sound, so that the red, yellow and green lights actually move to the beat of music playing nearby. Luckily, the shirt’s small, detachable battery pack has an on/off switch, in case you suddenly decide normalcy isn’t so bad after all. Requires 4 AAA batteries, which are not included. For better or worse, instant (if fleeting) fame can be costly, as the $92 USD price for this tee can attest to.

VW Creates LG PMP, for Those Who are iPodless
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Music, Portable Audio / Video, Transportation,

Volkswagen has decided that rather than making all their cars iPod-friendly as they did with the iGolf, they would make a few extra bucks for themselves and create their own PMP player, the LG FM37. Available in 3 shades of their cars, it features the VW logo and a 2.4-inch touch screen LCD. The FM37 can play MP3s, MPEG-4s, Windows Media Video 9, WMA and Ogg formats. Its battery should last up to 20 hours on a good day. Unfortunately, there is no launch date or price available, but perhaps at some point they will just include it as an accessory for those of us who want a new Beetle and don’t yet have an iPod.

PRADA is as Classy as Ever
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Cameras, Smartphones, Music, Portable Audio / Video,

At the Korea IT Show 2007, LG revealed its new PRADA ‘LG-SB310/LB3100.’ The phones support a 3-inch touch screen keypad as well as stylus pens. Change screen ratio from 4:3 to 16:9 for DMBs. One feature we really like is a clock that actually looks like one. Don’t worry. If you have only learned digital, you still have that option at the top of the screen. At the very least, we suggest you check out their mega-riche website and sample the surreal ringtones of their original LG-KE850.

Fender and Roland “toneologists” have teamed up to discover what they refer to as “guitar DNA” and successfully transplanted it into their American series VG Stratocaster guitar. We understand that it is similar to the Variax, but simpler to use. It is capable of 37 different Stratocaster, Telecaster, humbucking, 12-string and acoustic sounds, and five alternate tunings with the turn of a knob. Available in Black or Sunburst, it carries an MSRP of $2428.56 and $2478.56 respectively.
(Thanks, Stace)
