IncipioHitchWe are constantly trying to decide whether to use our extra USB port for downloading more music to our iPod or keeping our infra-red mouse hooked up. The IncipioHitch connects to the Apple sync and charge port on a second generation nano and converts it to a simple USB. The gadget is available in black or white for $14.99, but you can also get a Limited Edition Zebra from IncipioHitch soon. We’re all in favor of anything that can make our cords a bit less chaotic behind our PCs. As it is, we are almost too scared to look back there.

MiuroSome time ago we introduced you to Miuro, a playtoy for your iPod, and now its newest generation has arrived. This one not only boogies, it does so spontaneously instead of having to be pre-programmed with software that is based on what is referred to as “chaotic itinerancy.” This means that instead of you instructing your Miuro to dance, it can probably teach you a few steps.

ZMP President Hisashi Taniguchi says that the bot uses algorithms to analyze and translate beats into dancing the way that bees move around flowers. He is hoping that someday Miuro will be the “ultimate virtual pet” which will feature built-in sensors that can seek you out and play you a tune, whether you want it to or not. The release date has yet to be determined, but it will only be available in Japan at start up. Do you suppose that if we let it play “Achy Breaky Heart,” it could teach us to line dance?

Tide shirts and iPod

This has to be one of the gaudiest iPods we have seen to date. Buy a Limited Edition Tide “Loads of Hope” t-shirt in blue, yellow, or black for $10.00 and you will have a chance to win a customized Tide iPod or a $50.00 gift card from the iTunes store from Proctor and Gamble. All proceeds from the sales will go to the St. Bernard Project, which is endeavoring to build 10 houses for New Orleans’ families. We realize that not everybody wants to sport a shirt that turns you into a walking billboard, but maybe you could just purchase one for your Uncle Malcolm for Father’s Day and keep the reward, should you win one, for yourself. The promotion is open until June 25.

London bus stops now sport interactive touchscreen ads designed to promote their Nokia N95 cell phone. You tap a jean pocket and when it is uncovered, try to find its match. With a 5 megapixel display, the N95 has advanced browsing, e-mail, GPS, DVD quality graphics, Carl Zeiss optics, and music download capabilities. It comes with a $749.00 price tag, making it understandable why they are doing some heavy promotional tricks. Let’s just hope that playing around with the display will not get so addicting as to make the Londoners miss their buses.

Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney’s soon-to-be released album, “Memory Almost Full,” is now an exclusive at the iTunes store. Pre-order the 13 tracks and receive a complimentary “Dance Tonight” music video with Natalie Portman and McCartney’s single “Ever Present Past” with your order. If you are outside North America, you receive an exclusive acoustic version of the “Dance” single track.

Apple also announced that all of McCartney’s 25 solo albums will be available digitally for the first time this month. We suspect that this may have something to do with the contract over the use of the Apple logo, but we are content enough in the knowledge that we finally have access to Sir Paul’s music. If you don’t have the cash right now, not to worry.  “Memory” will become available to all June 5.
