If you think Björk was cool with her reacTable, take a look at Ben Lewry’s innovative LCDetar. He simply used an old laptop, stuffed it into his electric guitar, hooked up a few connections and there you have it. Displayed with constantly changing colors depending on what he plays, it worth taking a look at the results. We figure that even if his musical ability isn’t all that outstanding, most of his audience will still enjoy the performance.

Jukebox Lamp/iPod DockWe have seen iPod docks for playing and charging, mini-jukeboxes that flash and whir, FM tuners, alarms clocks, and oddly designed lamps. Combine them together with some built-in speakers and get this rather tacky 8 ½ x 10 ¾ x 20-inch Brookstone gadget, something you might get your Uncle Dennis to show you care, but not really all that much. He had better be a fave uncle, however, because it carries a MSRP of $99.99. We suspect that the next one will also vacuum your nightstand.

BuyMyTronic logoBuyMyTronics, formerly known as BuyMyBrokenIpod, has obviously increased the amount of old gadgets that they are willing to purchase. This includes such items as Game Cubes, Playstations 1, 2, and 3, Wii’s, DS Lites, iPhones and Zunes. As you send them your broken stuff they send them off to other companies or chop off parts. Working and/or phased out gadgets get refurbished and sent to resellers. The site is planning on expanding to include cell phones, digital cameras, GPS devices and camcorder. What a great way to pick up a little spare change for the holidays. You might just earn enough to buy yourself a little good cheer.

Steinway & Sons Watch

Who knows where artistry leaves off and technical skill begins when it comes to designing gadgets? In the case of Fabrizio Cavalca, the two are intertwined. Visual design meshes with auditory sounds to create such items as this watch with Swiss automatic movement from Steinway & Sons. Using the “Golden Ratio,” the ratio of the longer side to the shorter is 1.62:1, which is supposed to be “naturally pleasing to the eye.” We just know that we dig the design no matter what muse struck him. The Limited Edition watches are available beginning at $1,000.00.
