Think outside the box. The PowerSquid frees outlets with MOVs (Metal Oxide Varistors) with the benefit of a greater flexibility. We first discovered the PowerSquid at this year’s CES 2006, and now we can all have one. Flexity claims that their technology provides “enhanced heat dissipation and 27% greater capacity.” Purestream power-filtering protects your equipment and its Tripwire circuit severs electrical current in the event of a catastrophe such as lightening. You get connectivity protection for dial-up, DSL, or coax/cable.
The PowerSquid comes in three models:
- Surge 3000 Calamari Edition PCSQ3K_CAL for PCs, home theatres, and personal electronics - $79.95.
- Surge 3000 PCSQ3K for musicians, professional or wannabe - $69.95
- PSOM_BLACK Outlet multiplier - $12.95.
Both surge protectors offer a $500,000 limited equipment warranty and the outlet multiplier offers a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty. Add to that 2 neon glowing female outlets on the Calamari and you have some serious and sinister-looking protection.

Okay, so in a few weeks we are expecting to hear from a bunch of readers who decided to brave the cold in order to be one of the lucky few to nab a PS3 at launch. However, why suffer frostbitten fingers if you don’t have to? This is where the Butterfly Heater comes in. You fill this bad boy with a little lighter fluid, and it goes to work pumping out warm air through it’s butterfly pattern stitched front. Yeah, it’s a little more girly than we would have hoped for, but for an $18 device that will stay warm for a solid 25 hours, we think we can handle that. You can grab two for $30, and then you’ll be the envy of the line at your local Best Buy.

For all you 3D designers out there, if you want to get your game face on, check out the SpaceMouse Plus. This mouse features a total of 11 programmable buttons that allow you to map specific functions to each, saving you that precious design time. Oh, and it also looks pretty space age. Always a plus with these things. The SpaceMouse Plus is available from 3D Connexion for a cool $500 USD. They say that it works with over 100 programs, and support Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Linux operating systems. Yes - that’s right. A product focused on design that shows no OS X love. Oh well.

Blinkit Turns iPod Into A Flashlight
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Apple, Portable Audio / Video,
There are so many iPod accessories out there that aim to make your music and video enjoyment using the portable media player a much better experience - and then there are items like Blinkit. Blinkit connects to your iPod’s dock connector, and provides a steady stream of light from the two LEDs on the unit. Instant flashlight action is fantastic, but even better, there are caps that let you change the color of the light, and you can use the iPod wheel to make the light pulsate as well. For $29.95, we think the price is a little much for something that must be considered a novelty at best for most people out there. Of course, if you are one who could use such a thing, head on over to the Blinkit site, and let us know how it works for you.

Belkin has done some redesigning and will be introducing its TuneStage II in November. The new model will turn your iPod into a wireless remote by featuring Bluetooth 2.0 technology which they claim will provide “enhanced audio quality, improved rejection of interference, and lower power consumption.” It gives you up to 7 hours of playtime for up to 30 feet, and requires no software or extra batteries. TuneStage II also functions as a charging dock for your iPod and comes with its own USB cable. Set to be released at a MSRP of $150, this is actually a $30 decrease from the original TuneStage.

Logtech Launches Harmony 670 Advanced Universal Remote
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Home Entertainment,

We have been big fans of Logitech’s Harmony line of universal remote controls, which means we are glad to see the release of the Harmony 670 remote. Improving upon the 659 by moving the DVR navigation controls to the center of the unit and color coding the one-touch activity buttons, the Harmony 670 is the mid-range peanut unit in the Harmony line. The remote features a monochrome screen and backlit keypad. Even better, this remote ships with the Harmony 7.0 software, which aims to make setting these bad boys up even easier than before. We will believe it when we see it.
What confuses us is that the 670 retails for $149.99 USD. We figure, at that price, why not just spend the extra $30 and get the Harmony 720, which gives you a larger, full color screen with rechargeable battery and charging cradle? But, whatever.
