MRM Teams With Panasonic to Recycle

MRM (Manufacturers Recycling Management) is trying to get us all to recycle our old electronics, taking away the need for disposing of your dead ones in the nearest dumpster when no one is looking. Joining Sharp Electronics Corporation and Toshiba America Consumer Products, Panasonic has now stepped up to create a nationwide program to recycle their goods. You simply drop off your unused products. It is available in ten states so far and they hope to expand to all 50 of them in the next 3 years. Look for further announcements in January.

Sharp Aquos Fulltouch 931SHThe Japanese always manage to get the best cell phones first and we always hope they trickle over to the U.S. and the new Sharp Aquos Fulltouch 931SH is no exception to the rule.  This new cell phone is an obvious response to the and its touch technology.  The one thing that sets this cell phone apart is the incredible screen resolution of 1024 x 480, bringing it close to that of a netbook.  The 931SH also incorporates a 5.2 megapixel camera with stabilizer technology, a 1seg TV tuner, Bluetooth with A2DP, an accelerometer, web browser, media player, a microSD slot and of course, a touch screen as the name implies.  The phone also works on all 3G networks, making it viable for U.S. as well as world-wide consumption, although no time-frame has been mentioned.

Sharp to Combine Blu-ray Recorders With AQUOS

AQUOS logoWe figured it had to be coming eventually and it appears that the time is here. Sharp has sent out a press release that they are combining their 16 AQUOS DS Series LCDs with Blu-ray recorders. The Digital W tuner allows simultaneous watching while recording another program/movie in HD. The TVs will range from 26 to 52-inches, and each features a motion guide, preset functions, and 3 color variations. Look for a release date of November 20 in Japan.

Sharp and LU Find Bird Flu Deterrent

Sharp CMOS Cam Module RJ63SC100

CMOS camSharp has come up with a teeny, tiny 5MP camera with auto-focus which they say is the planet’s smallest. Set to come out en masse in July, we suspect that the CMOS cam module RJ63SC100 will become available on some of their holiday handhelds and other mobile products. Maybe they will lend out the design for spy-stuff which also continues to get smaller and smaller. Then again, perhaps it will inspire other companies to beat the diminutive size so that they can have the smallest.

Softbank 922SHSharp has unveiled its Softbank 922SH smartphone. It features a full QWERTY keyboard, a 3.5-inch display with VGA res and a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, an external 1.2-inch OLED display, a business card scanner, and a microSD card slot. Shipping today in Japan, it also does e-mail and surfs with a 3G connection. Contact Sharp if you are impressed enough to want to be one of the first to get a Softbank.

Sharp Reveals AQUOS X Series

If you have never seen a Sharp AQUOS then you don’t know the meaning of the word “covet.” The company has just released their new X series of LCD TVs. The panels come in 37, 42, and 47-inches with a thickness of merely 3.44 cm. With full 1920 x 1080 HD, the TVs have a doublespeed LCD of 120 Hz, a contrast ratio of 15000:1, 12-bit BDE color, a 3 1.3a HDMI input, and a 1 bit digital amplifier. It’s the GP3 Series of 1080p LCD TVs, with a 6 millisecond response time, which reduces lag time between your beloved console and the TV. It’s even available in 3 cool colors: Red, White or Black. Available for $1500. We also checked out their D64 Series of LCDs, 20% lighter and thinner than the previous D62 Series. Sizes range from 32” - 65” and are available now.

We loved AquosNet, an internet service in which up-to-the-minute, customizable information (weather, stocks, sports, traffic, Hollywood news and more) appears on the side of the TV screen at the push of a button. AquosNet is free with the SC94 and D74 Series.
