Victioria Beckham’s Selling Shoes for Charity

Victoria Beckham is donating a mountain of designer shoes to help victims of the Philippines Typhoon.
The big-hearted fashion designer is selling off some of her most expensive pairs along with dozens of items of clothing belonging to her and husband David. The donations are expected to raise thousands of pounds for those affected by the mega storm when they go on sale today.
"Dozens of pieces from the couple's wardrobe this Friday at the British Red Cross shop in Kensington & Chelsea, which specializes in designer clothing. All the money raised will help those affected by the typhoon in the Philippines," a statement on the British Red Cross's website reads.
The 39-year-old fashion icon has posted several photographs on her Instagram account showing her boxing up the donations, which include pieces from Dolce & Gabbana, Jimmy Choo and Roberto Cavalli, to name a few.

SideCar is donating all proceeds earned this weekend to Hurricane Sandy relief

Today, the company sent out an update to its userbase announcing that all proceeds earned this weekend (November 9-11) will be donated to the American Red Cross to help with Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. If you're a driver, you'll still get to keep your 80% portion of the fare, so it's SideCar’s 20% split that goes toward charity. So if you're in Seattle or San Francisco and need a ride this weekend, keep SideCar in mind!

The Short Version: If you donate to Haiti relief by SMS by texting “HAITI” to the number 90999, or by texting “YELE” to 501501, we will match your donation multiple times. Just leave a comment telling us how much you donated, and we will take care of the rest. We are currently matching donations 14 times.
Over the past couple of days, while trying to carry on with “business as usual,” I’ve personally found it hard to focus on tech, gadgets, and all of the CES 2010 goodness that we have yet to bring you, as the world is focused on the disastrous aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti. We’re sure you’ve seen the imagery, but if you haven’t, or if you aren’t quite sure, I encourage you to watch this AP report:
Gear Live & Friends Will Match Your Haiti SMS Donations!
We felt it was time to do our part to help, so with the support of a bunch of Gear Live friends, we are announcing that we will match SMS donations made by Gear Live readers and viewers. As many of you know, the Red Cross has made it super-simple to donate $10 to help out by simply texting the word HAITI to 90999. In fact, this has been so successful that it’s already earned $11 million in just a few days. That is fantastic - but the damage to the country is far greater than that, and every little bit helps. So here’s what we’re gonna do:
Starting now, if you send an SMS donation to either the Red Cross (by texting the word HAITI to 90999) or to YELE (by texting the word YELE to 501501) Gear Live will match it, up to $500. In addition, we have a bunch of our friends joining in as well:

Annie Leibovitz, Damien Hirst Designing For Vuitton

Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz is trying her hand at designing for Louis Vuitton.
Leibovitz has joined a host of other famous faces who are creating a new piece of luggage for the luxury brand to help raise money for Red Cross. Annie’s bag takes the form of a backpack lined in red, complete with several different pockets to make transporting camera equipment easier.
British artist Damien Hirst, famed for artworks that featured dead animals preserved in formaldehyde, has also created a piece—his is a big black trunk featuring drawers to store the surgical equipment he uses for his artworks.
Louis Vuitton creative director Marc Jacobs has also got in on the action, creating a trunk to put his dogs in so they can fly with him on planes. The specially-created items will be sold at London’s Sotheby’s auction house on November 17.
The sale is to mark 150 years of the Red Cross, a charity which aims to help people worldwide without discrimination.
Safe and Well Launches for Hurricane Victims and Their Families

Since hurricane season has just begun, we think it’s time for kudos to companies such as Microsoft for aiding survivors and their families. Last year, Microsoft teamed up with the Red Cross and the San Diego Computer Center to create Katrinasafe.org. This site helped survivors find their separated family and friends by posting their locations. To date, more than 340,000 have utilized the site.
One year later a new site, Safe and Well, has been created for faster communication. Through this website you can search for missing family members, or if you are a survivor, post your physical condition and location. Phone registration is also available. Safe and Well is accessible via https://disastersafe.redcross.org.
Checking out the site, I noticed that 11 people have registered today. Our thanks again, Microsoft, for proving that life is not all fun and games.
