VIDEO: Josh Groban, The Muppets Perform Kanye West’s Material

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Videos, Hip-Hop & Rap, Pop,

How does a celebrity like Kanye West know when he's really made it? When he's been spoofed by South Park? When he's appeared on The Cleveland Show?

No -- when he's been mentioned in the same sentence as The Muppets ... or Josh Groban.

In the video above, Oscar and Grammy nominee Groban has lifted West's own words for his latest album. The Best Tweets of Kanye West rivals the Twitter-based duet -- "Tweet Tweet" -- Drake and Jimmy Kimmel collaborated on earlier this year.

After the jump, you can also see the Muppets of Sesame Street take on a NSFW version of "Monster." Now that we've seen the PBS characters singing both Lil Jon and Kanye West songs -- should we say a bright future in rap is ahead of them?

Monster Beats Pro by Dr. Dre review

beats pro review

The Beats Pro by Dr. Dre. at $399.95 (direct) is a serious pair of headphones designed for the modern DJ. The ear cups flip backwards to free one ear, the cable is detachable, and jacks on both ear cups act not only as inputs, but as outputs to send audio to a friend's headphones. The Beats Pro sounds excellent—there's plenty of bass, but the high frequencies are accurately reproduced, as well. The potential deal breaker for standard users and DJs alike: they're heavy and not comfortable when worn for long periods.

Design
Weighing in at nearly a pound (15.2 ounces), the Beats Pro comes in black or white models that each feature healthy doses of brushed metal on the ear cups and headband. The lowercase Beats logo is emblazoned in red on each ear, and the interior of the headband and ear cups is a cushioned black material. There's a 3.5mm jack at the bottom of each ear cup—it doubles as both an input (from your sound source) or an output to send audio to another pair of headphones. The connection for other headphones, however, is loose and could easily detach if you move around (this is because the jacks both have a twist-to-secure feature that only seems to work with the included cable). The cable itself is the signature Beats red, thick, and coiled at the bottom. Not only is a ¼-inch adapter included, but it comes fastened to the coil so you never have to go looking for it; just snap it on to the 3.5mm tip whenever you need it. Also included with the headphones: a protective pouch and a cleaning cloth with "advanced Aegis Microbe Shield technology" so microbes will never come between you and your music.

2010 Holiday Gift Guide: Beatbox from Beats by Dr. Dre

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Music, Techies, Teens, Under $500,

BeatBox Dr Dre

We're still working on our full review of the Beatbox, the first loudspeaker dock from the Beats by Dr. Dre line of products, but we figured there was no more reason to wait to award it a spot in our 2010 Holiday Gift Guide. This thing is solid. The Beatbox is a speaker dock for your iPod touch or iPhone. You dock it the device, and your music comes to life. This is one of those speakers that can fill a large room with sound, bass and all, with no distortion even when cranked up to the max.  The Beatbox sports 5.25-inch bass drivers and 2-inch high frequency drivers, and it retails for $399. It's the best iOS speaker dock that you can find right now, and you can get yours from Apple online.

Monster and Vivienne Tam collaborate on Butterfly in-ear headphones

Monster Vivienne Tam Butterfly headphones

Damn, Monster Cable is continuing to flood the headphone market, this time going outside of their partnership, and instead doing a collabo with fashion designer of HP netbook fame. The product will be known at the Butterfly in-ear headphones, and each earbud will have colorful butterfly artwork on it, and it’s all finished up with a light gold-brushed finish. They are being positioned as both a music accessory and a fashion piece, which we guess kind of explains the $199.95 price point. So, who’s picking these up when they ship in April?

VIDEO: Lady Gaga’s Oprah Show Appearance

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Performances, Videos, Pop,

Lady Gaga may have been too sick to perform at Purdue University last night, but she appeared to be in fine form less than 24 hours later.

During today’s Oprah broadcast, the singer covered a wide range of topics including her distinctive wardrobe, her love of cooking and the disaster in Haiti. Gaga even mentioned Oprah and Gandhi in the same sentence and shed a few tears for the audience.

The sit-down followed a medley of songs which included “Monster,” “Bad Romance” and “Speechless.” You can see that performance after the jump.

Beats Solo comes to Beats by Dr. Dre line: Smaller, Lighter, $219

Beats by Dr. Dre Solo White

Hot on the heels of the Heartbeats by Lady Gaga headphone news, we now have word on another new line in the line - the Beats Solo. As you can see from the image, the Beats Solo is a smaller, lighter, and sleeker take on the Beats by Dr. Dre Studio headphones. Monster Cable aimed to make these headphones a lot more portable, while maintaining the great sound that the Studio edition is known for. Since we haven’t gotten our hands on these, we can’t confirm that, but we do know that the price is a lot more palatable for the masses. The Beats Solo will be available in November in black and white, and will cost $219.95. That’s $80 less than the larger Studio model.

We’ve got an image of the black version for you after the jump.

Heartbeats by Lady Gaga added to Beats by Dr. Dre line

Heartbeats by Lady Gaga

We’ve known for a while now that a edition of the headphone line was on the way (heck, the Beats Studio Edition appears in every single one of her music videos,) but we must admit, we didn’t know it would be it’s own standalone product! However, that is exactly what Monster Cable is giving us with the Heartbeats by Lady Gaga in-ear headphones. I’ve confirmed with Monster Cable that they aren’t just a rebranded version of the Beats by Dr. Dre Tour Edition, and they they have a sound and style all their own. Apparently, Lady Gaga helped with the design, and we can believe it, just by looking at the product. Other features include multiple eartips to suit all sizes of ear canal, a travel case, and a flat cable design that eliminates wire tangling.

The Heartbeats by Lady Gaga will hit stores in October, with prices ranging from $99 to $149.
