Kodachrome, R.I.P.
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Cameras, Corporate News
Because of poor sales, Eastman Kodak has decided to take our Kodachrome away. No more greens of summer when the stock that is left sells out, probably this fall. The film first came out in 1935 and was a huge hit, but now accounts for less than 1% of the company’s market. Most camera owners opt for digital and newer film technology and although the company claims to be nostalgic, it still comes down to profit.

Kodak Zi6 HD Pocket Video Camera unboxing gallery
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Cameras, Features, Galleries, HDTV, Portable Video
Continuing our look at pocket HD camcorders, we were able to get our hands on a new Kodak Zi6 Pocket Video Camera, which shoots in 720p high definition, at a full 60 frames per second. In case you were wondering, that’s unique for ultra-portable HD camcorders. There isn’t much storage space on-board, but that is rectified by the SD card slot, which supports up for a 32 GB SD card. The Kodak Zi6 also includes an SD AV cable, as well as an HD cable, allowing you to plug the camera directly into an HDTV to view the content on it. It takes two AA batteries, and they throw in two rechargeable AAs, as well a charger. We’ve taken a bunch of images of the device, which you can find in our Kodak Zi6 gallery. If you are interested in picking on up, here’s a Kodak Zi6 coupon link, where Kodak is offering $30 off. Not bad.

Malia Obama’s camera: Kodak EasyShare M893 IS
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Cameras, Hot Deals

We’ve been getting quite a few emails today asking about the camera that Malia Obama was using during Barack Obama’s inaugural address, so we figured a post was in order. Malia was taking images and/or recording video on her Kodak EasyShare M893 IS 8.1MP digital camera. It looks like she was sporting the purple version, but it is also available in red, black, and silver. You can grab one for just over $100 at Amazon.
We’re still curious if we’ll get to see any of the shots and footage that Malia scored from the amazing seats she had.

2008 Holiday Gift Guide: Kodak ZI6 Pocket Video Camera
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Cameras, HDTV, Movies, Portable Audio / Video, Women, Men, Under $250

If you wanna pick up a YouTube-ready video camera for Mom, we are hard pressed to find something as good as the Kodak ZI6, for the price. This little camera shoots in 720p high-definition at 60 frames per second, and can also take regular old still images as well. Other cameras, like the Flip Mino can’t do that. It supports SD cards in sizes up to 32GB, which basically means you’ll be able to shoot video until your (rechargeable) battery dies, as opposed to worrying about how much space you have left. You can pick them up from Kodak for $153, they’re available in pink, as well as black. Get it quick though, because they are on sale now. After 12/15, they go back up to their normal price of $179.
