Apple has stopped production of the iPad, get ready for iPad 2

Apple has stopped production of its first-generation iPad in order to clear room on the shelves for the newest version of the device, which will likely be unveiled at a Wednesday press event, according to 9to5Mac.
Shipments of the original iPad have presumably stopped, the report said; once retailers sell out of the stock they already have, it won't be refreshed. 9to5Mac also cited some retailers that said they could sell out of iPads as early as today.

Will we see a white iPad this Wednesday?

We're days away from Apple's March 2 press event, where Cupertino is widely expected to unveil its next-generation iPad. Not surprisingly, the rumor mill is still churning out stories, and today's tidbit is that Apple will unveil a white iPad.
Blog 9to5Mac got its hands on photos of what it says could be second-generation iPad parts - and the frame is white.
Of course, Apple has thus far failed to deliver on its promise of a white iPhone 4; the latest prediction is sometime this spring. Would it really unveil and start selling a white iPad before delivering the white iPhone 4? Or will both devices hit the market at the same time?
All our questions should be answered by Wednesday. For now, all we have is the wild speculation that happens before every big Apple event.

Apple discontinues MobileMe sales

Apple has reportedly ditched its $99 cloud-based MobileMe product from its online store amidst rumors that Cupertino is prepping a free version of the service.
According to AppleInsider, the MobileMe site on Apple.com currently leads to a dead link, and resellers have told the blog that Apple notified them about plans to discontinue the product.
The MobileMe Single User product and Family Pack have been declared "End of Life" by Apple, AppleInsider said.
Apple is also planning a 30-minute downtime for me.com tonight, during which time the site's Web-based apps will not be available.

Apple confirms March 2 iPad 2 event

Yesterday we posted with certainty that Apple would be announcing the iPad 2 on March 2, a week from today. Today, Apple has confirmed that date. As you can see, their invitation to their March 2 event features an iCal icon peeling away to reveal an iPad behind it. Doesn't get much clearer than that, does it? As always, we'll have the full details live as the event happens. Anyone else crossing their fingers for some iOS 5 news to share the stage next week?
Apple music event scheduled for September 1 - bring on the new iPods

Well hey, looks like the annual Apple music-related event is happening right on time, if not a bit early this year. A week from now, Apple will be taking over the Internet to tell us all about their new products. We are sure we will see the iPod line get a total refresh, highlighted by a Retina Display-packing iPod touch. There’s also the rumored Apple TV-to-iTV refresh, and you’ve just gotta believe that we will get word on the release of iOS 4 for the iPad…we are in need of folders on ours in a major way. We will have all the action for you as it unfolds next week.

Bleeding Edge TV 294: MacBook, MacBook Pro redesign comparisons

A few days ago, at the Apple notebook event, the company unveiled their newly redesigned MacBook (gallery) and MacBook Pro (gallery) portables. We were able to get our hands on the new MacBook and MacBook Pro, and in this video, we compare each to their last generation counterpart. That’s right, we put the white MacBook up against the newer aluminum MacBook, compare the older MacBook Pro to the new one, and to top it all off, we bring in a MacBook Air for comparisons sake as well. Hit the video to get a look at all the aluminum and glass unibody goodness.
Apple announces redesigned MacBook Pro

It took them about eight months since the last spec bump in the line, but we are still stoked that Apple today announced that their newly redesigned MacBook Pro is here, and available immediately. The notebooks are still sporting their aluminum exterior, but now they are built using a new process that involves carving a solid piece of aluminum rather than the old school welding technique. That means one part rather than many, which Apple is calling the “Unibody.” You’ll also notice, fairly quickly, that the MacBook Pro now sports an iMac-ish black bezel around the screen, along with a glass covering. Back to that whole aluminum and glass thing.
The display will now only be available in a glossy finish, gone are the days of matte Apple notebooks. The trackpad has also been re-imagined as well. It’s made entirely from glass, and no longer has a separate button. Instead, the entire trackpaad is the button. The glass trackpad is multi-touch compatible, and Apple has introduced new gestures in the product to boot.

Apple introduces LED Cinema Display: 24-inch, $899

After many years of remaining stagnant, Apple finally gave their Cinema Display line a nice redesign. The new 24” LED Cinema Display looks similar to what you’d find in an iMac. Aluminum casing, black bezel along the front, LED backlit, built-in MagSafe connector, and a built-in iSight camera with microphone. That last one is something we’ve been waiting for, for far too long. Unfortunately, not everything is all fun and games with the new Cinema Display, as it appears that - at least for the time being - these new Cinema Displays are only compatible with the new MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air that were announced today, which all incorporate the DisplayPort. There is currently no way to connect a Mac Pro, iMac, or older notebook to one of these. Let’s hope this gets remedied quickly.

Apple updated MacBook Air with NVIDIA graphics, more storage

During this mornings notebook event, Apple announced that the MacBook Air was getting a bump in some of its specs. First and foremost, the Air is getting updated to the new NVIDIA 9400M graphics chipset, which should be a nice upgrade. Even better, if SSD is your thing, you’ll be pleased to know that a 128GB solid state drive is now available, along with a standard 120GB drive if that is more your thing. microDVI has been replaced by a mini DisplayPort, which we are seeinc across the board with Apple. You can grab the base model for $1799, or go with the SSD model with 1.86GHz Core 2 Duo for the lowered price of $2499 (that one is due in November.)
