Drew Carey and Bob Barker on The Price Is RightUpdate: Bob Barker has now his earlier statements. He spoke to Entertainment Weekly hours after his comments, saying that Drew Carey has been “charming and complimentary, and he had me on [The Price is Right] to plug my book…to think that I would say anything derogatory about him is idiocy.”

“He does the show differently than I did,” Bob Barker said of his Price Is Right replacement Drew Carey. Barker was cornered by paparazzi recently, taking the time to about his old hosting gig and his one-time on-screen cameo with Adam Sandler.

“I tried to make the show really exciting…and [Drew Carey] doesn’t do that. He just plays the games,” Barker said. But at least he still uses the skinny microphone, right?

is now retired from the hosting biz, and spends much of his time golfing - but he’s still got it. When asked about his appearance in the Adam Sandler flick Happy Gilmore, Bob Barker smiled. “Young men love that movie…and they’re always asking me…could I beat up Adam Sandler?” He laughed. “Adam Sandler couldn’t even beat up Regis Philbin!”

David Letterman Unable to Host Due to Stomach Bug

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Late Night, Talk Shows, CBS,

David Letterman Today’s Late Show with David Letterman will have something different—an absent host. Letterman came into work for a taping of the show earlier today, but had to leave because of a stomach bug. What to do when your host is sick? In this case, the show looked no further than one of the guests—Adam Sandler. That’s showbiz, folks. The show must go on, even if your fearless leader is throwing up elsewhere. Luckily, he had already taped Wednesday’s show and is being pre-empted on Thursday and Friday for NCAA basketball. Question is, does Sandler deliver in a pinch? I know I’ll be tuning in to find out. OK, you caught me—I go to bed before Letterman comes on, so I’ll DVR it for another day.
