Sharp has two new AQUOS devices, the HN-PP100 and HN-PP150. Each is a cross between a 300 x 300 dpi photo printer and memory card reader. Display your images on your TV in one of their slideshow options or print them. The Photo Player also has an IR receiver for sending those photos to the player as well as an HDMI output. Unfortunately, the player does not have HD capability and can only store the photos if you have a NAS and the HN-PP150 model.

Sharp Aquos Fulltouch 931SHThe Japanese always manage to get the best cell phones first and we always hope they trickle over to the U.S. and the new Sharp Aquos Fulltouch 931SH is no exception to the rule.  This new cell phone is an obvious response to the and its touch technology.  The one thing that sets this cell phone apart is the incredible screen resolution of 1024 x 480, bringing it close to that of a netbook.  The 931SH also incorporates a 5.2 megapixel camera with stabilizer technology, a 1seg TV tuner, Bluetooth with A2DP, an accelerometer, web browser, media player, a microSD slot and of course, a touch screen as the name implies.  The phone also works on all 3G networks, making it viable for U.S. as well as world-wide consumption, although no time-frame has been mentioned.

Terrestrial TV Viewers to Go Online After Digital Switch

TV With AntennaIn a survey done recently by ABI Research, the results showed that when the dreaded digital change occurs in February, 70% will attach a digital converter. As for the rest of the participants, 10% say they will switch to cable or satellite service, and 20% will just let their TVs “go dark.” Analyst Steve Wilson says the the data suggests that there will be some overall terrestrial viewers who will use other venues for entertainment such as broadband video, DVD rentals, or other online alternatives.

LG has unveiled their Scarlet LG80 LCD TV with 3.1 channel virtual surround sound. The speakers slide out of the side automatically when you turn it on. There is also a center channel speaker dedicated to the human vocal range and a woofer on the back. The TV features 1080p HD, a 30,000:1 contrast ratio, and 50W output. There are USB 2.0 and 2 HDMI 1.3 ports. The LG80 will be available this month in Asia and next year in other locations.

When we see a product like this, it makes us want to scream, “Gimmee!” Sharp’s new LCD TVs, the AQUOS XS1 Series, made their debut at CEATEC 2008 and feature an incredible 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Each HDTV is only 2.28cm thick and has 150% color representation with 450 cd/m2 brightness. Expected in Japan October 15, the 52-inch model will sell for ¥980,000 ($9,256.00,) while the 65-inch TV carries a ¥1,280,000 (~$12,092.00) price.

Liquid TV has the ability to burn to DVD or hard drive, pause, export to PMP or iPod, and schedule recordings in the U.S. and Canada. The package includes TiVo’s Season Pass, WishList, and a 12 month subscription to the service, and comes with tuner for your PC and remote. All in all, this is a fine deal for $199.00 that will be out October 15. If you already have a tuner, Nero is offering the software separately for $99.00, TiVo subscription included.

IMDb Offers Free Internet Movies, TV

Amazon has announced that its subsidiary, IMDb, will be offering free recent and classic films such as “Planet of the Apes” and “The Madness of King George.” There are also trailers and short films. They say that over 6,000 titles are available and include episodes of new season shows like “30 Rock.” We checked out an episode on the site and noticed that it is about as free as regular TV, so expect some commercials, although not to the extent that you find on network television.

We are sure that by now everyone has seen the incredible impression that Tina Fey did on last week’s SNL, but you might have missed a performance on MadTV last weekend of Keegan-Michael Key doing Barack Obama. While we couldn’t find the original skit, we did manage to grab a clip by Young Hollywood.com interviewing the “Fauxbarack.” Eerie, isn’t it?

Italian designer Edoardo Carlino added a hi-fi sound system that supports MP3 audio and an integrated video projection that can be used as a computer monitor or TV for watching or video game play.
