Nelly Furtado: Being a Mother Has Made My Music More Joyful

Nelly Furtado's music is more "joyful" since she became a mother.
The "Maneater" hitmaker is more aware of her surroundings since having daughter Nevis, eight, and says she has a huge influence on her music: "Once you become a parent it kind of forces you to look more outside yourself and become a little more in the moment, which is kind of great because an artist's life can be one of solitude. I find my songs become more joyful, fun and inspired."
Nelly added also said she is more "in tune" with the rest of the world, and produces more collaborations, rather than writing songs alone with her guitar. The 33-year-old singer spoke of her move into Latin music with her last album Mi Plan and how it has boosted her confidence. "I broke into a whole other world. I really felt like Alice in Wonderland, you know, just kind of falling down the rabbit hole. I woke up in a brand new world. Just creating in Spanish, recording in Spanish and performing in Spanish has given me a lot of strength as a vocalist," she said.

Brad Pitt: Raising Six Kids is Hard

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Weddings, Celebrity Babies, Child Stars,
Brad Pitt admits looking after six children is tougher than starring in action movies.
The Hollywood heartthrob - who raises, Maddox, 11, Pax, nine, Zahara, seven, Shiloh, six, and four-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, with fiancee Angelina Jolie - gets a lot more bruises being hands-on father than he ever did doing the stunts for new film Killing Them Softly.
"Does it ache? Sure. The knees have gone, the back is crunchy. Getting the kids ready for school is every bit as painful as anything I had to do in this film," he said.
Brad and Angelina are in the process of organizing their wedding, but he admits best friend George Clooney won't be his best man because "he doesn't believe in institutions." However, Brad has confessed they haven't set a date yet, even though the children are pressuring them to do it, and could tie the knot in the UK, after spending the summer in London: "We are going to do it. We haven't set a date yet, though. We are getting a lot of pressure from our kids. We could do it in the UK. It has been such an amazing summer here, with all your events - the Jubilee and the Olympics. I've watched everything."
Ireland Baldwin Not Upset by ‘Pig’ Incident

Alec Baldwin's daughter isn't upset he called her a "rude, thoughtless little pig."
The 30 Rock actor infamously left a message berating Ireland, 11 at the time, and her mother - his ex-wife Kim Basinger - when he couldn't get hold of them, which was subsequently leaked to the internet, but while most people were shocked, she now laughs about the incident.
"The only problem with that voicemail was that people made it out to be a way bigger deal than it was. He's said stuff like that before just because he's frustrated. For me it was like, 'OK, whatever.' I called him back and I was like, 'Sorry Dad, I didn't have my phone. That was it.' We almost did something funny on YouTube, of me calling him and yelling at him. We were just talking about it the other week," Ireland, now 16, told Page Six.
Ireland also said she has started to forge a great relationship with Hilaria, her 28-year-old step mother, who wed Alec, 54, in June.

Elle Macpherson: Parenting Isn’t Always Pleasant

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Clothing, Style, Features,
Elle Macpherson admits being a mother isn't always "pleasant."
The supermodel raises sons Flynn, 14, and nine-year-old Cy - whose father is her former partner Arpad Busson - and she says being tough on them is necessary, although it doesn't make her popular.
"My role as a parent is not the most pleasant one at times. I don't delegate that work so I get a lot of, 'I hate you, mum, you're the worst mother in the world because you're making me do homework when I don't have any.' I say, 'Cool, you're still sitting down for a little while and revising some of the more sticky subjects, or reading another chapter of your book, because a little a day goes a long way and avoids last-minute panic.' Then I get, 'But I don't need to, I don't have exams.' I say, 'I understand, so what did you do today?' Let's have a look at your books together and you can work out a plan for when you do have exams.'"
However, Elle, 48, believes her tough stance "pays off" with her sons' school work: "I am the worst mother in the world, apparently, but the boys' dedication pays off."
January Jones: Being a Working Mother is Hard

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Television, Celebrity Babies,
January Jones admits being a working mother is "hard."
The Mad Men actress - who has not disclosed the father of her 10-month-old son Xander - felt "lucky" to be able to take her little boy to work with her, but she found it tough at times because her hours were so long.
"I had to go back to work when Xander was six or seven weeks old, but I'm lucky that I have a job that I can bring him with me. I was able to bring him to work and nurse, and I could see him when I missed him, which was often even though I was only feet away. Mad Men has such long hours, and then you go home and you don't sleep. So it was hard."
However, January thinks going to work made her a "better mother," and she doesn't think people should be judged harshly for returning to their careers while their children are young.

Tom Hardy Wants to See More of His Son

Tom Hardy feels "sad" that he doesn't see more of his son.
The actor regrets the fact he doesn't get to spend as much time with four-year-old Louis - his child with ex-girlfriend Rachel Speed - as he would like because of his film work.
Despite his guilt, Tom - who stars as villain Bane in new Batman film The Dark Knight Rises - knows his successful career has many benefits for his child:
"My little boy lives mostly with his mum and I see him when I can. I'm very much aware of being a 'Skype father,' which is sad. But I have to have the finances to make sure he'll be secure and I can only do that by working."

Kris Jenner Defends Teenage Kim’s Birth Control

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Television, Features,
Kris Jenner insists putting daughter Kim Kardashian on birth control pills when she was just 15 years old was the "right thing to do."
The showbiz matriarch was recently criticized after the reality TV star, now 30, revealed her mother had helped her with contraception following a conversation when she was just 14 years old, but Kris insists her actions were sensible.
"First of all when we made it to the doctor's office she was 15 years old, you can tell your child what you expect from them and what is the right thing to do, and what it is to be a well-rounded human being. Short of locking my kids in a closet... She was sharing with me that she felt this urge to be sexual and she felt this part of her life coming on, I did what I thought was the right thing to do, I drove her to the doctor, this doctor delivered all of my children, it was somebody I really trusted, I thought if anyone could wrap their head around what is going on with Kim is my doctor. I took her there and said, 'Just make sure my daughter it protected, make sure she's safe, she needs an education' ... you just have to protect your kids."

Alanis Morissette is Prepared to Breastfeed For Six Years

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music, Celebrity Babies, Features,
Alanis Morissette is prepared to breastfeed her son until he is six.
The "You Outta Know" singer believes attachment parenting is important for 17-month-old Ever Imre's wellbeing and will continue to feed him from her breast until he decides to stop.
"I'll stop whenever he wants. I know some children who have weaned naturally at two years, some kids wean naturally a couple of years later; I mean, it's up to every child," she said on Good Morning America. In the western world, most children start to be weaned away from breast milk around six months after their birth, but those who follow attachment parenting believe letting their baby choose is best for their long-term emotional welfare.
Alanis - who is married to Mario "Souleye" Treadway - added she doesn't judge other people for not sharing her views on parenting: "I consider it appropriate, it is appropriate for that particular child and that particular family."
