Apple announced that iTunes 10 is available today at their fall music event, and they’ve overhauled the old logo as well, eliminating the CD. The biggest news of iTunes 10, however, comes in the form of Ping, a social network along the lines of Last.fm. With Ping, iTunes 10 will allow you to follow people in similar fashion to Twitter, and add friends with compatible tastes in music. In addition, you will be able to comment on peoples pages, and have access to custom songs and album charts, and over 17,000 concert listings. Look for Ping to also grace your iPhone and iPod touch inside the iTunes app. Check out the press release after the jump.

What did TV’s reigning diva have to say about pop princess Britney Spears?
Glee’s Lea Michele shared a few set secrets, along with her personal thoughts on the upcoming Britney-Brittany episode.
“She was so professional,” Michele said of Spears, who will appear in multiple scenes on the second episode of the second season of Glee.
“She was great to work with. It was one of those things where you go to work and you’re like, ‘I can’t believe we’re doing this!’”
Lea Michele also revealed a few tidbits about what fans can hope to see in the episode.
“We are in a scene together,” she admitted. “What we do together, I can’t say, but I will tell you it’s incredibly ironic! I can’t believe Ryan [Murphy] got her to do this.”
Sounds intriguing!

Despite Jimmy Fallon’s truly horrible singing (he’s no Neil Patrick Harris), the opening number of the 62nd Primetime Emmy awards was a huge success. Thanks, Jane Lynch.
Lynch and several of her Glee co-stars, including Emmy nominees Lea Michele and Chris Colfer, helped start the Emmy Awards off right with a funny, tuneful Bruce Springsteen tribute that YouTube won’t soon forget. Watch the video above to see it for yourself!

John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston Back Together?
John Mayer has reportedly rekindled his romance with Jennifer Aniston.
The singer - who split from the 41-year-old beauty in August 2008, began dating her again in October that year before >separating for the second time in March 2009 - admits he is a strong believer in “second chances,” and that it’s important for him to “be with” the one he loves.
“I believe in second chances! You might have been a pain in the a*s the last time around, but you can still start over again from home base. Next time you get a text from the one you love just text back ‘come over’ - no matter what happened in the past. If you really love someone, just tell them and be with them,” he said during a concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
John was performing for fans at the venue on Sunday, when he spoke candidly for the crowd. A woman believed to be Jennifer was spotted sitting in the audience, although John’s spokesperson refused to confirm she was there. The couple are believed to have been secretly dating for several weeks, after the musician invited the Switch actress - who was married to Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt, and has dated Vince Vaughn - to fly by private jet from Los Angeles to visit him in Manhattan.

Glee to Offer Up More Billy Joel Tunes?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Music, Prime Time, FOX, Gossip, Video,
“I said, ‘Yeah, go ahead, use my stuff,’” Billy Joel recently told Access Hollywood. The Piano Man released his songs to Glee for use on the popular series, which has made many songs famous again. “I was in a chorus when I was in high school, why not?” He said.
Joel’s signature song “Piano Man” was crooned on-screen by guest star Neil Patrick Harris during last season’s “Dream On” episode, and there’s good reason to suspect that fans will be treated to more Joel in the future. However, Billy Joel doesn’t plan on doing a Britney Spears - he won’t be making a guest appearance on the series. “I’m just not a big TV actor type of guy,” he explained. “I’m a piano player.”

Auto-Tune Scandal Unfolds on The X Factor
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Reality, Gossip, Video,
The seventh season of Britain’s The X Factor premiered as recently as August 21, and already it’s the most controversial the series has ever known. The flagship program for its parent network ITV, X Factor has been a reality TV mainstay in the UK - much in the same way that American Idol is a mainstay for the US.
That isn’t the only thing X Factor has in common with the popular US reality series. Like Idol, X Factor is a singing competition where one winner is crowned at the end of the season. Like Idol, X Factor is known for its harshest critic, Simon Cowell. But in light of recent events, American reality fans are hoping that’s all that X Factor has in common with Idol.
Singers on the newest season of X Factor have very clearly had their voices altered with Auto-Tune, an audio processor which corrects pitch and helps singers sound perfectly in tune. Auto-Tune may also be used to the opposite effect, making singers sound very much out of tune when it is applied incorrectly. Cher made the sound of Auto-Tune famous when she used on her “Believe” single. Other well-known singers to apply the technology include Janet Jackson, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
