iTunes 9.0.1

released .0.1 yesterday, and normally, they squash some bugs that some people experience. Here is a look at the changes in the latest release, which comes just a couple of weeks after the iTunes 9 release:

  • Resolves issues browsing the iTunes Store.
  • Addresses a performance issue where iTunes may become unresponsive.
  • Fixes a problem where iTunes may unexpectedly quit.
  • Fixes a problem syncing Podcasts in playlists to iPod or iPhone.
  • Fixes a problem sorting albums with multiple discs.
  • Addresses an issue with the Zoom button not switching to Mini Player.
  • Improves application syncing for iPod touch and iPhone.
  • Genius is now automatically updated to show Genius Mixes.

We must say, iTunes 9 feels more responsive, and works more “as it should,” or as expected. Hit up Software Update to grab it.

iPhone MMS officially launches September 25, misses “late summer” target

iPhone 3GS MMS

It’s official, MMS is coming to the 3G and 3GS on September 25th, according to AT&T. For those keeping track, that pushes the promise of “late summer” back to “early fall” since technically, summer ends on September 22nd. On the surface, it seems like not such a big deal, but it is just another straw that is being added to the camel’s back as it pertains to AT&T. Many suspected that MMS would go live on September 9th, alongside the Apple iPod event scheduled for that day. Hey, better late than never, right?

Bleeding Edge TV 316: Yelp Monocle Hidden Feature Brings Augmented Reality to iPhone

My pal Robert Scoble announced that the Yelp iPhone and iPod touch app that was recently updated included a hidden Augmented Reality feature. Obviously, as soon as we saw, we had to give it a shot, and we figured we’d do it on video. Augmented Reality apps use the camera on the , along with overlaid information, to present location data while looking at the “real world” - it’s very cool, and you can expect a bunch more of these types of apps to make an appearance on the App Store very shortly upon the release of iPhone OS 3.1.

In this demo, we show you how to unlock the Monocle mode in the Yelp app, and also give you a look at what exactly it does. For now, our early opinion is that it’s a cool idea…it just needs to be refined a bit to be truly useful.

Window Phone gives you a look at the weather outside

Window Phone

We try to cover concept technology with some form of regularity, because it generally sounds cool.  The problem with concept tech, however, is that it fails to become what we in the business like to know as “reality.” With that caveat stated, check out the Window Phone.

This Window Phone looks like an iPhone screen, with the main feature being that it gives you a weather report by simulating what a Window would look like in that kind of weather.  See the rain?  Just imagine what happens if it snows. When it is clear and sunny out, the screen is crystal-clear.

By the way, you can also fog the phone up and draw on it, as seen by the illustration after the break. This would result in your illustrations being sent over MMS.

Fun concept, but not something we think will see the light of day anytime soon.
