Some Apple TV orders delayed by up to 3 weeks

Did you order one of those new $99 Apple TV units that Apple announced at their fall music event? If so, you may wanna keep an eye on your inbox, because the company has been sending notices to some customers letting them know that their orders have been delayed by 2-3 weeks:
“Our records indicate that when you placed your order you paid for upgraded shipping,” Apple wrote in the emails. “Due to a delay, we may have not been able to meet our delivery commitment.”
We’re guessing that this is a case where more people were interested in picking up the $99 box than Apple had expected to be able to send out before September finishes out. However, if you go to the Apple TV page on the Apple Store, it still shows that the device will ship within this month.

Microsoft claims Kinect will outsell the iPad

In an interview with Gamasutra Kudo Tsunoda stated that pre-orders of Kinect have put it on track to sell millions this holiday season.
“The preorders have been really strong. As far as what we’re looking at for Holiday, this is going to be stuff that’ll blow away any of the sales you’ve seen with iPad,” said Tsunoda.
The iPad broke the one million mark on its 28th day of sale, and shattered 3 million after just three months. With Tsunoda’s claims, it seems that Kinect will even surpass the launch sales of even their own Xbox and Xbox 360. We’ll see.

How the iPhone changed the life of a blind user forever

We were just sent a pretty awesome story about a blind users first week with the iPhone that we just had to share. For those unfamiliar, the iPhone has some pretty extensive and amazing accessibility features aimed at blind users that helps them use the seemingly impossible to navigate (without sight) device. I’ve seen those features in action, but of course, I’m able to see…so it’s hard for me to judge them in practical use, despite coming easy feeling like Apple did a great job in planning their accessibility features.
Now we get to hear first-hand what the iPhone can do for the blind. Even more impressive than just acting as a phone and testing device, the right apps are able to offer insights into the world that the blind have never had easy access to. Particularly awesome is the part about the app that uses the iPhone camera to tell you what colors the phone is “seeing.” You’ll have to read it for yourself to get the full picture.
The one glaring problem? The fact that Apple forces you to use iTunes with the device, which is apparently a chore for the blind. Hell, it’s hard enough for a sighted person to get through that mess.

We give you a look at folders (and how they’re different on the iPad compared to the iPhone,) multitasking, AirPlay, Game Center (and the iPad UI tweaks that accompany it,) and a few of the other subtle changes found in iOS 4.2 for the iPad. It’ll be released to the general public this November, but we’ve got the beta running on our unit to bring you the goodness today.

When Apple announced the Retina display packing, FaceTime rocking iPod touch 2010 model, we knew this thing was gonna be a hit. We’re currently hard at work on our iPod touch review, but in the meantime we’ve snapped a bunch of pics of what’s gotta be the best looking iPod touch to date. Seriously, this thing is thin to the point of ridiculousness. Obviously with the Retina display, the screen looks sharp, and you also gain camera on both the front and back of the unit. Take a gander at the gallery.

Bleeding Edge TV 364: ElementCASE Vapor 4 kills iPhone 4 antenna signal

We took a trip down to Cedar Park, Texas to visit the fine folks at ETS Lindgren, a company that builds anechoic chambers and testing solutions for things like smartphone antennas. We learned a lot, and at the end of the day decided that we wanted to see if they’d allow us to test the iPhone 4 antenna by itself, and then test those results against an iPhone 4 inside of the ElementCASE Vapor 4.
The Vapor 4 is an $80 case that looks great, but we’ve been hearing that users were having issues with dropped calls and data signal loss. We wanted to know if the case was the reason, or if it was the iPhone 4 antenna itself. Get a look at our scientific test, and the results, in this episode!

EXOGEAR Exolife iPhone 4 battery case review

Since the iPhone 4 form factor was such a radical redesign from the iPhone 3GS, one annoyance was that cases fitted for the previous device simply don’t fit the new one. Makes sense, but for us that meant parting with our Mophie Juice Pack, which we’ve been rocking for a couple of years. The great thing about it is that it’s basically a case that doubles the power of your iPhone, and it’s indispensable when you are out on the road or traveling. Mophie’s been saying that an iPhone 4 case is coming soon, but they’ve been scant on details, and it looks like a company called EXOGEAR has beat them to the punch with the Exolife iPhone 4 Rechargeable Battery Case. We’ve been using it for a while, and have our thoughts for you after the jump.
