LG’s latest touchscreen phone, Bikini, features an InteractPad that replaces navigation keys with context-specific virtual keys. The Korean company claims that the keys, being larger and spaced out more, are more flexible than standard ones. The Bikini comes in black or red wine, has a 3mp cam with video, MP3 player, FM radio, and Bluetooth capability. Available in two models, the suggested price should fall between 500,000 (~$482.00) and 600,000 KRW (~$578.00.)

Oppo DV-980H upconverting universal DVD player
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Home Entertainment, Misc. Tech, Movies, Music, USB,

OPPO Digital has released their latest up-converting player for Standard DVDs. The DV-980H has a 1080p output, 7.1 channel audio with Dolby Digital Surround EX decoding, and optimized high-fidelity audio circuitry for Super Audio CD, DVD-Audio, HDCD and regular CDs. Add to that Kodak Picture CD for high resolution picture slide shows, a USB 2.0 interface, and the ability to play all versions of DivX video (including DivX 6) with standard playback of DivX media files. While it doesn’t support Blu-ray or the failed HD DVD, it certainly is a lot less expensive for $169.00.
(Thanks, Noe)

This just proves it pays to be a rock star. We have already told you about asteroids that have been named after celebs. Jason Bond, an ECU biologist, discovered a new arachnid last year in Jefferson Co., Alaska. Although there are some rigid rules to follow, he managed to name the trapdoor spider Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi because he likes the man’s music and his work as an activist. This is not the first time that a creature has been named after a rocker. A whirligig beetle was named Orectochilus orbisonorum in honor of Roy.

orbitsound T3, Music in the Air
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Design, Music, Portable Audio / Video,
The orbitsound T3 is a device that you wear around your neck, plug in your MP3 player, iPod, music phone, PSP, or PMP, and you get what the company calls “music in the air.” Battery powered, it is about the size of a cellie, is portable and lightweight, and features full airSound stereo. We were a bit curious about how it worked and discovered that the gadget “uses your chest cavity as a resonator to reinforce the sound from the unit when worn around your neck.” Uh-huh. We understand it will also work with a PC, TV, or desktop stereo and suspect that this is not an inexpensive gadget, as no price was available. Contact orbitsound for more details.
