Save that memory while playing your fave tunes with Samsung’s YP-U2Z. The super thin player combines a 1GB flash memory with a player that can handle MP3, WMA (with DRM), OGG, ASF and WAV files. It also features a graphic equalizer, 12 presets, a Digital Natural Sound Engine and a 4 line LCD. With playback and recording, expect up to 13 hours of play with its rechargeable battery via USB. At a size of 87.5 × 24.4 × 12.6mm and a weight of 28g, the YP-U2Z has a price of ¥9,980 (~$85.00).

Philips Releases GoGear MP3 Players

Philips has not only put out 3 new MP3 players, they have named them as well. All three are part of their GoGear line. It includes the Spark and Raga that come in both 2 and 4GB models that are now available for about $60.00. The Luxe will be offered in January and comes in 2GB for $89.00 and 4GB for $99.00. Would that other companies would follow suit. Not only is it easier to pronounce, it’s so much easier to remember.

Michael Jackson Memorabilia Auction

We guess it is truly the end of a pop star era with a planned auction from Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch. Julien’s Auctions will be offering over 2,000 items that include his white-jeweled glove, arcade games, Disney memorabilia, and garden accessories. If you would like to partake or simply keep track of the action, Julien’s will be broadcasting on national TV and stream video through their site on April 21 through 25. We expect things will not go cheaply. A Limited Edition Catalog, signed by the Pop King himself, is available for $500.00, $100.00 without the signature. No word on if any of this is related to Michael Jackson’s medical issues.

Netgear Digital Entertainment Elite EVA9150

Netgear’s Digital Entertainment Elite is hoping to catch some of Apple TV’s prospective customers. The EVA9150 digital media player comes with a 500GB hard drive and is what the company claims is “the world’s largest video jukebox for the home.” Apple TV holds only 160GB and the Xbox 120GB. You can partake of videos, photos and music on your TV in HD 1080p. Look for it early next year with a $400.00 price tag.

Exclusive: Red Beats by Dr. Dre LeBron James customs

We’ve got one more look at a rare version of the Beats by Dr. Dre headphones for you guys. This time, it’s the custom Red #23 Beats that were made exclusively for LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. As we mentioned a few days ago, these custom Beats headphones were presented to the Cavs, and the team loved the gift. You can see that these Beats are done up in Cavs colors, and even have the number 23 (that would be LeBron) on them as well. About 20 of these were made, and 15 of them went to the team, so don’t expect to get your hands on them anytime soon. We are constantly amused by how many electronic devices can be shoved into one functioning unit. This one combines a 1GB MP3 Player, an FM tuner, and a 2.0 flash/jump drive, with a removable cap for access, all in one. It supports MP3 and WMA formats, has a customizable backlit display, and runs on an included AAA battery. Both a stereo music earphone and USB cable are included in the $18.50 price.

Limited Edition White Beats by Dr. Dre hands-on

If you’ve been paying attention over the past couple of days, then you’ve heard that Monster is about to release a very limited edition version of their Beats by Dr. Dre headphones into the world. The thing is, they are gonna cost $700 - twice the price of the standard Beats headset that we love so much. We got in touch with Monster for the backstory on these special editions, just to clear everything up.
First of all, you’ll only be able to pick these up from the Ron Herman boutique store in Los Angeles. These Beats headphones aren’t just pure white—they are done up in Ron Herman white, blue, and gold. Unfamiliar with Ron Herman stores? Well, let’s just say a t-shirt there will run you over $60. It’s all about high fashion. In fact, Ron had this to say about the custom Beats:
“Our Ron Herman boutiques are the quintessential environment where one can experience the unification of fashion, music and culture. Beats By Dr. Dre are more than just headphones, they are a fashion accessory.”
Can’t argue with the dude either, the Beats are a fashion accessory almost as much as they are a functional pair of noise-cancelling headphones. I’ve seen hip hop artists wearing them just to look cool. That’s not the only reason for the expense though. According to Monster, one of the biggest challenges with getting the Beats out the door was the finish. They sport a custom coating that works as both a glossy coating and a paint. This coating has to bend freely, while never cracking. These custom Ron Herman Beats were worked on by Colorware, who had to come up with a similar solution. Plus, have you ever gotten anything customized by Colorware? It isn’t cheap. So in this sense, Monster is basically passing the cost of the coloring process on to the customer.
One last tidbit - if you are a big baller and want one of these white fashion pieces, hurry up. No more than 20 pairs of white Beats by Dr. Dre Studio headphones are going to be made.
