2006 Holiday Gift Guide: Tivoli Audio Music System
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Features, Home Entertainment, Music, Men,

If you are looking for something different in the home stereo area, look no further than the Tivoli Audio Music System. This is an all-in-one solution that actually works - very well. The user interface is super-simple, and the buttons on the unit are exactly what they need to be. Nothing too advanced for anyone here. The Tivoli Audio Music System packs in an AM/FM tuner, CD player, and even an auxiliary input for your MP3 player of choice. The LED panel is perfect at 32 characters, and it even dims itself when you turn the lights off so as not to disturb your movie-watching (or sleep) experience. Our favorite feature? The SpacePhase setting, that makes audio sound even more clean and full - seriously, it rocks.

2006 Holiday Gift Guide: Apple iPod nano
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Features, Music, Portable Audio / Video, Women, Techies, Teens,
The recently overhauled iPod nano is almost a splitting image of the old-school iPod mini. You know, the anodized-aluminum casing that is available in multiple colors? Yeah, that’s the one. The new casing is much more scratch-resistant than the original nano, and features a brighter screen along with better battery life (26 hours!) and a thinner shell, if you can believe that. The new iPod nano also features updated software which includes a nice search interface. What you aren’t getting, though, is the ability to play movies or the new iPod games that are available in iTunes - however, we think that most people on the lookout to purchase a nano aren’t necessarily the gaming type. Plus, who would want to play Zuma on a screen this tiny? Still, for a flash-based portable music player, we give the nod to the iPod nano. Hey, you can even get the RED nano and help in the fight against AIDS. Feel free to check out our iPod nano unboxing video.

Alltel Offers Buy One, Get One Holiday MOTORAZRs
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Smartphones, Music, Wireless / WiFi,
Like Sprint had done in October, Alltel today announced that it is offering MOTORAZRs just in time for the holidays. The sleek Motorola phones feature a 2.2-inch 262k TFT main color display, a 1.3 megapixel digital camera with 4x digital zoom and video capture, Bluetooth capabilities, stereo headset support via EMU, an integrated music player, and up to 1GB RAM.
Purchase a silver MOTORAZR for $49.99 online and get one free. That same offer applies if you select the fire RED version for $69.99 and a portion of the proceeds go to the RED Campaign in Africa. Since this is the season for giving, we suggest you shell out the extra $20.00 for women and children who would find almost a month’s worth of HIV meds to be a welcome Christmas present.

It also features 5.1 channel surround sound added to its LCD panel and illuminated controls to make any DJ look like they know what she/he is doing even in the dingiest of nightclubs. MuveeMix is a new site that makes it possible to upload your MP3s and videos, then connect the two without doing any of your own editing. The service automatically cuts picture or video highlights to the beat of the music, and even adds other themed artistic elements. You simply register at the site, upload your info, then combine your tacky home movies from your last vacation with a song such as “Mad World.” Display it in their gallery or export to myspace or other sites of your choosing. They will keep up to 10 muvees active for one year.
Upgrade to a Bumper account for $60.00 a year and get 5 extra styles (for a total of 10.) Just don’t be disappointed if no one shows up for the premiere.

2006 Holiday Gift Guide: Toshiba Gigabeat MES30VW
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Features, Music, Portable Audio / Video, Techies, Teens,

If you are a videophile and want a neat device you can use to watch video on the go, without breaking the bank, you may want to consider the Toshiba Gigabeat MES30VX. This Gigabeat packs 30 GB of hard drive space into a package that is a bit smaller and lighter than the standard iPod. While the screen is only 320x240 resolution, the colors, tone, and lighting are spot on. The Gigabeat MES30VX screen is the man when it comes to accurate video representation. Of course, it does all the usual stuff as well, that being playing digital audio (it’s Urge compatible) and the like. Even better though, it’s compatible with TiVo To Go out of the box, as well as the Vongo video service, which means you have your video hook-up here as well - the total package.

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Smartphones, Movies, Music,
Sprint has unveiled their latest Motorola KRZR K1m, the RAZR V3m, and the SLVR L7c, which will enable customers to access the latest news, music, and entertainment at broadband-like speeds. On Sprint’s Power Vision EV-DO network, these models will be the only versions of these handsets to offer NFL Mobile, Sprint TV, Sprint Movies, Sprint Music, and Sprint Power View. That’s a heck of a lot of Sprinting, but it had better be for the cost of $199.99.

Official Microsoft Zune Website Launches
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Internet, Microsoft, Music, Wireless / WiFi,

In twelve days, Microsoft launches their Zune portable media player and music service. Seems like as good a time as any to launch the official website for the platform as well, which is exactly what the company has done over at zune.net.
As a refresher, the Zune features 30 GB of storage space and will hit retail at $249 USD. If there is any device out there that can attempt to give the iPod somewhat of a run for it’s money, it’s the Zune. Do we think it will happen? No - we don’t. However, with the marketing budget that Microsoft is going to throw at this thing, who knows what will happen this holiday season?
