Trinity Lets Your iPod Travel Safely
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Accessories, Music, Portable Audio / Video,
If you want your iPod to tag along in the car, the Trinity has devised a convenient car seat for it. The DS-CHFMT fits in your cup holder, making it safe against all those potholes in the road. Basically, the gadget is an FM transmitter which measures 88 x 82 x 88 mm, weighs 250 gm, has a display which shows the transmission frequency, and can plug into your cigarette lighter to recharge. Less convenient if you smoke and drink Cokes on long road trips, at least you wont have to leave it home or lost in the back seat. Available for 7980 Yen (~$ 65) in Japan, the DS-CHFMT is comes in either black or white.

Clocky Pesters You Into Wakefulness
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Smart Home, Misc. Tech, Music,

We have written about Clocky before - over a year and a half ago when he was just a concept. He is now here. While most alarm clocks awaken you with annoying chatter or strains of the latest hit by Beyonce, Nanda’s Clocky runs around your nightstand, jumps off up to 2 feet, and randomly scampers around the room emitting beeps with a flashing screen.
In order to have his freedom to scuffle, he utilizes 4 AAA batteries which should last 6 to 8 months. If you catch him before he jumps, you can set the snooze button and if he becomes a little too frisky, you can disable his wheels. Clocky measures 5 x 3.3 x 3-inches and is available in three colors (and in shag in the future) at Nanda for $49.99, although the aqua and mint models will not be available until after the holidays.

When was the last time you were sitting next to a wall outlet and heard a tune on your iPod shuffle and thought, “I wish I had real speakers.” Wish no more. Designer Jinseup Shin has created the Plug In & Enjoy speaker system. The gadget receives FM signals through your cell phone, CD player, or any other device that has an FM transmitter. When the device’s LED flashes green you turn the front to receive the signal and when it displays red after a few seconds, you adjust the volume. MusicJam Mixes With IPod
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Accessories, Home Entertainment, Music, Portable Audio / Video,

Among the myriad of devices to buy your iPod for Christmas, think about the MusicJam, which will turn you into a smaller, but hipper DJ. You can mix or record, playback tracks or full songs, and utilize its echo effect. It even features an electric guitar input and free karaoke videos. Listen to the tunes through a headset or send them to your stereo or PA system via RCA jacks.
Included with your MusicJam are a mic, cables, a mic stand clamp, and an AC adapter. MusicJam is available online for $229.00 although the site cautions that demand is greater than supply because of the holidays.

Musicovery is a free, yes free, French flash-based site that streams a musical playlist depending upon your personal criteria. You simply click its sidebar to choose moods of dark, energetic, positive, or calm, select one of 18 genres, then let the music and flower-like graphics flow. You can also choose individual artists tracks or eras. What’s the catch? The energetic graphics look like they may give you a headache after awhile and the sound quality is not the best we have ever heard, but for €2 a month (~$4.00) you can receive CD quality audio.

2006 Holiday Gift Guide: Slim Devices Squeezebox
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Home Entertainment, Internet, Music, Techies, Teens,

The newest Squeezebox has a bright LED screen along with a nice, metallic console, and is the perfect gift for any audiophile. Hook this thing up to a stereo system using it’s digital outputs, and you are in for a treat. The Squeezebox supports just about any format out there (but not iTunes DRM), and can even stream from services like Rhapsody. There are third-party plug-ins that let you change fonts, and even use the display as a caller ID. Our favorite part, though, is the fact that it can stream Internet radio without needed a PC to be powered on.
Price: $299 (Compare Prices)

JBL Encounter Has A.I.
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Accessories, Home Entertainment, Music, Portable Audio / Video,

Not only does JBL’s white and chrome Encounter look out of this world, it has characteristics that classifies it as an A.I. Created by Harman Multimedia, this 2.1 speaker system remembers the volume setting the last time that you used it, has simple touch volume (with double-touch muting), presets like “dance,” “loudness,” and “deep,” and features 4 aluminum-domed transducers driven by Neodymium magnets. It also houses a stereo mini-jack connection to hook up to MP3 and CD players, as well as desktop computers. The Encounter can be found on Amazon for $184.08.
