I imagine that just about all our readers might be a bit puzzled at the headline, or why it is relevant. This post is more of a behind-the-scenes look at something we deal with on a daily basis here at Gear Live. You see, we get multiple inquiries, phone calls, and emails per day from marketing and PR firms who want our attention. The thing is, most don’t know how to approach us in a way that makes us want to give them our attention. Chris Aarons of is one of the people who “gets it.”

We recently got our hands on the HP Pavilion TX1000 Entertainment Notebook, which in and of itself is a mouthful, and decided we would hook you guys up with another Unboxing gallery. This is one of the biggest galleries we have done, as we have forty-six images of the TX1000 for your vicarious viewing enjoyment. Unboxing the HP Pavilion TX1000 took us quite a while to complete, but when all was said and done, we walked away impressed.

Google just launched the beta version of Google Desktop for Mac, and we have spent a bit of time getting aquatinted with the new Spotlight competitor. We have put together a full Google Desktop for Mac gallery walkthrough if you just want the visuals, but for those who want our full impressions, read on.

Installing Google Desktop for Mac took a bit more than the standard drag-and-drop affair that most Mac programs boast. Obviously, this is because Google Desktop does a lot of it’s work in the background, under the hood. The good thing, though, is that while you wait, you are able to set various preferences for how Google Desktop will operate on your machine.

Our bad! When we put up our Apple TV Unboxing Gallery, maybe you would have appreciated it if we actually let you know it was there. So, here we are to redeem ourselves, with what we think is a not-too-shabby look at the Apple TV unboxing experience. If you are curious about what comes in the box (not much, really) as well as what is lacking (video cables?), you may find our gallery of some use to yourself. Once again Apple has done a fantastic job of making a device possibly feel more special than it is simply by the way they packaged it—although, with their failure to pack in any sort of video cable, be it digital or analog, they managed to also make you feel like something is missing at the same time. See for yourself in our Apple TV unboxing gallery.

So, remember all that Vanishing Point hoopla that was going on earlier this year, which included Loki throwing out puzzle after puzzle (heck, and even taking over the Bellagio)? Well, the final puzzle was the task of figuring out exactly who Loki was, and the person who did that first would get their name inscribed into a limited run of AMD Athlon processors. Audrey Murphy came out on top in this one, as you saw in our video coverage of the announcement, and won the right to have her name become a part of technology history. We got our hands on one of the chips, and have put up a gallery that features a sample of what the chips might look like. As you can see, she put her name on there along with her husband’s, and then thanked a couple of sites that gave them support during the content. Check out the gallery for a few more shots. Congratulations, Audrey!
