Red Tab Levi Cell Phone

We guess that Levi’s last cellie was a big hit because they are doing it again with a Limited Edition Red Tab. The phone also features an MP3 player, stereo Bluetooth capability, and a 2 megapixel camera with flash. Only 100 will be available through Collette online and for your €550 ($870.00) they will include a “premium” box, a cover for the cell phone, a hands free kit, a metal chain, and up to 13 letters of customization. Maybe if Lee jeans puts one out, they will come up with something affordable for the little people.

Toy BotsMr.Roboto Watch

We love our old toy bots and were very pleased to discover that there is now a Mr. Roboto Watch by Azimuth. His left eye displays the hour, his right GMT indicator, his nose and mouth seconds and minutes. With a case of steel, the water-resistant Mr. Roboto is part of the company’s Mecha-1 BMF collection. He will be appearing in September at a much higher price than our toys were. Look for a 4,800.00 Swiss Francs ($4,800.00) price tag.

(Thanks, Mitch)

Footlume

Wouldn’t it be nice to get up at night for a bathroom jaunt and not worry about tripping over something in the dark? Engineering students Leona Dean and Zoe Robson from London South Bank University have created the Footlume, an electroluminescent rug. Using rechargeable batteries, its light is controlled by a person’s weight. Dean says that it can also “provide ambient mood lighting or flash in time to music as a talking point at a party.”

The prototype will be on display at the Daily Mail Ideal Home Show in London this month. The thought occurs to us that if it responds to humans, it will do the same with nocturnal pets and the idea may backfire if they decide to play “chase the light” as our cat does.

ApriPokoToshiba is working on a new robot that doubles as a voice-operated remote for all your appliances. At a size of 8 x 11-inches and a weight of only 5 lb., ApriPoko learns by watching and questioning your actions, such as “What did you just do?”

Talk back to the bot (“I turned on the stereo”) and he will memorize your actions. When you want that stereo turned on the next time, he will happily oblige with an IR signal. Think of the implications in years to come for the prototype.

“I got a beer from the fridge.”
“I flushed the toilet.”
“I called my boss and told him I was very sick.”
“I have to go see my mother-in-law.”

Ladybag

Students at Canada’s Simon Fraser University have come up with an idea to remind you if you forgot your cell phone, keys, or other important items before you leave your home or office. Utilizing RFID technology, they have created the Ladybag. The handbag reacts by showing what is missing on its LED display. Taking it one step further, the bag reflects emotions via sensors. Grab its sides and it shows a happy face. Play with the zipper and it shows nervousness. While we are not sure that we like the second attribute, we can’t wait until this prototype is picked up by an enterprising backer.

DIY Neon Light KitIf you are not content with a basic tabletop Neon Happy Face, you can customize your own design with snap-together letters in this DIY kit. The sealed 2 x 3-inch blue blocks issue low heat and energy, and can connect up to 22 of them horizontally with a single power source. There are letters, numbers, and characters to choose from and it features a push button for steady or blinking lights. Priced between $3.99 apiece to $29.99 for a set, we could see using it to wish your neighbors a holiday greeting or, for even more prophetic fun in your neighborhood, “The End is Near!”

V13R

We don’t see many vehicles that run on three wheels and impress us. Cirbin’s V13R has the same 1250cc v-twin found on Harleys. Made of a fiberglass body outside a tubular steel chassis, it has a complete lighting system and control from its bucket seats. At a size of 139 x 78.5-inches, it has removable roll bars and comes in black, red, or silver with a price of $39,995.00. We figure if you are going to pay that much for a trike, why not go whole hog? Check out Cirbin’s site as the V13R will be touring this summer.
