Boeing House

Pay attention, airlines. Here is a way to recap some of those losses. Imagine having a Boeing 727 as a home. The plane set Joanne Ussary back $2,000.00, cost $4,000.00 to move, and $24,000.00 to renovate. That’s not bad for a $30,000.00 investment. The stairs open with a garage door remote, and one of the bathrooms is still intact. And let’s not forget the personal jacuzzi in the cockpit. Sweet. The Boeing home is featured as part of a collection of creative conversions.

Wake n' Bacon Alarm ClockThis clock is just a bit to far fetched for those of us that don’t do breakfast. Place a frozen piece of bacon in the slot of Wake n’ Bacon before you hit the sack, and the clock goes off 10 minutes before you want to get up. When the alarm hits, the clock sends a signal to a small speaker that reroutes it to a relay, then to two halogen lamps. The result is that you awaken to the smell of cooked pig. Designer Matty Sallin is thinking of adding calendar aware to his prototype so it will not go off on weekends and holidays. We think he should add a self-cleaning feature and perhaps something that would ensure we don’t get food poisoning.

Brazil’s Meninos Design Studio were making custom USB hard drive cases for their friends and they were so popular that they decided to go public. Each one is hand-assembled in acrylic with a vinyl wrapper. You also have the option of uploading your own design with their custom template. Expect designer prices of $250.00 for only a case, or $400.00 to $620.00 for those with drives. We bet they could expand to make flash drives and clean up.

Casio Solar WatchCasio is working on Tough Movement for radio controlled solar watches. Using metal and plastic to reduce its weight, the chronograph style is reduced by 0.55mm while the analog is 4.11mm smaller. The watches will be shock resistant and have a hand correction with LED. The hands are detected at 55 minutes and correct themselves if the time doesn’t coincide with the IC counter. The company intends to use the technology on both their Oceanus and G-Shock series. Look for the GS-1200 to debut this September with a price of ¥42,000 (~$388.00) in Japan.

g Meso NotebookSylvania has unveiled their g Meso notebook. Weighing 2.2 lbs., it features 1.6 GHz Intel Atom and 80 GB hard drive with Windows XP Home or Ubuntu Netbook Remix. Available in black, white, yellow, or pink, it is webcam enabled, and has an 8.9-inch LED that is backlit. While it doesn’t look to be anything outstanding, it follows its previous g notebook, also not extremely “gotta have one.” That notebook runs for about $329.00 and we assume this one will go for about the same price.

Zoom H4 Handy RecorderZoom has released the H4 Handy Digital Recorder for recording in 4 tracks that also serves as an audio interface. With it you can record 24bit/96KHz digital audio and MP3s with a 320 kbps bitrate. It features two condenser mics, has an included 512MB SD card, and 2 combo XLR-1/4-inch input jacks. Palmsize, it runs on 2 AA batteries, has a back-lit 128 x 64 pixel LCD display, and comes with a windshield cover and tripod adapter. We suspect audiophiles will realize that the $350.00 price tag is probably worth the extra expense after reading all the specs.
