The peripheral has a pop-up menu, 10 blue Macro keys, 7 Internet hot keys, 8 media keys, and both standard PC and customized mode. Compatible with Windows XP/Vista, OCZ claims that the Elixir has a lifespan of 5 million cycles. The best feature is the low $29.99 price that will save you some bucks so you can buy another overpriced game.

We’ve entered the auditorium here in the West Hall, and are currently waiting for the E3 2008 Xbox Media Briefing to begin. Very nice setup in here, by the way. Bunch of stage lighting, high definition displays, and…oh, even a mock living room setup. Snazzy. Anyhow, keep it locked here, as we will be bringing you live updates from the keynote as it happens. Any predictions on what we will be seeing announced today?
Oh, as for images, we will update the post with a bunch of those after the keynote ends. We wanna focus on bringing you the text updates for now, mkay?
We start with some Xbox 360 Street Talk, where apparently Microsoft went around town and interviewed people off the streets, and asked them about what they like about Xbox 360. Obviously, all good comments here. Now we get answers for questions like “What is a noob?”, “What does it mean to be ‘pwned’?”, “What does melee mean?”, “What does RPG mean?”, etc. Basically, what do average people know about video game terms. This is kind of like sitting through the advertisement trailers in the movie theater, the ones that come before the actual trailers.

Yes, Virginia, there are other phones out there. Verizon has launched their LG Chocolate 3 Clamshell. The cellie features a built-in FM transmitter, and supports both Verizon’s EV-DO network for Net surfing and VZ Navigator for GPS service. It also supports Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and a micro SD slot, a 2-megapixel cam and holds 1GB of memory. Available in both black and blue, the 3.9 x 1.9 x 0.6-inch phone is going for $129.99 after mail-in rebate and with a 2-year contract.

After a long and arduous wait and a somewhat aggravating purchase experience, we had to insist that the folks at the Apple store allow us to film this episode of Unboxing Live. Obviously, we are unboxing the 16GB iPhone 3G, in both black and white flavors. Included with the iPhone are iPhone earbuds, a Dock cable, and a new tiny USB power brick. It also comes with a SIM removal tool, a cleaning cloth, and the ever-present Apple stickers. Conspicuously missing from the package is the iPhone 3G stand-up dock, which is sold separately for $20.

NASA Announces End Date of Space Shuttle

NASA has announced that the final flight of their shuttles will be May 31, 2010. It will be carrying spare parts for the ISS. One of the flights before that time will be taking up the 1.8 ton Cupola, a European-built structure that gives astronauts a 360ยบ view of space. Going up December 10, 2009, the space agency believes that this will be an incredible outlet for pictures. Once the shuttle has been retired, European and Japanese ATVs and Russian Progress crafts will be doing all the flying. And there will always be the commercial vehicles for taking billionaires into the final frontier.

Our iPhone 3G purchase review: Campout trip from hell

We had no idea that our quest to grab a few iPhone 3G units at launch here in the Seattle area would turn out to be an utter fiasco. Last year, when the original iPhone launched, we had a much longer wait in line (over 19 hours versus just over 8 hours) last year, and were further back in the line to boot. However, it was a complete failure on both Apple and AT&T’s part in making sure that the experience went as smoothly as possible.
Oh, sure, we finally have our iPhone 3Gs working and in good shape, but it took much, much longer to get them in that condition than it should have. Read on as we relive the events that took place earlier this afternoon at the Alderwood Mall Apple Store. Oh, and credit for that photo of Sparky walking out after being first in line goes to Jim Valley.

We already told you about our crazy iPhone 3G launch day purchase fiasco, but now we wanna hear from you guys. Was what we experienced accurate? Did you just end up flying through purchase and activation, with no problems at all? Or was your experience more like ours, where things seemed to go wrong at every turn? Let us know!
Artist Michael Williams has created a London Tower Bridge out of 1.6 million matchsticks by using photos and images in books. The scaled-down perfectly proportioned creation is 800 ft. long and has an illuminated 52 gun galleon underneath. The water is also filled with lights. While it took him a decade to build, Williams now wants to sell the clever structure to fund a studio. Head over to his site if you want to make a bid. Smokers and pyromaniacs should probably not apply.

We don’t know why we obsess on vending machines, but we assume Japan does since they seem to have a large assortment of them. Their latest is a fresh veggie type they call Extravaganza that dispenses bok choy and bean sprouts with the push of a button. With all the E. coli scares going on in the States, we doubt they will ever make it here. Besides, it just doesn’t have the same feeling as going to an outdoor market and purchasing fresh local vegetables.

Google has finally launched Lively to try to lure some of those Second Lifers away. The site utilizes avatars and 3D graphics like the other virtual game, and meeting rooms for characters. After the download, you can also display YouTube videos on virtual TVs and show photos in virtual frames. Engineering Manager Niniane Wang wants subscribers to create their rooms in their own interests.
“If you enter a Lively room embedded on your favorite blog or website, you can immediately get a sense of the room creator’s interests, just by looking at the furniture and environment they chose.”
Note that you have to have Windows Vista/XP with Internet Explorer or Firefox to subscribe. We can’t anticipate its success but we did notice that the demo on YouTube already has received over half a million hits.
