New iPhone parts leak

You're looking at what's believed to be the rear panel of the next iPhone (above.) The part was uncovered by iFixYouri, which was tipped off by a "reliable source" at a Chinese parts supplier (the same source who revealed that the iPad 2 would be available in white) who already has the parts for sale. 9to5Mac was able to get even more images of the device.

As you can see in the image, the rear casing matches up quite nicely with recent rumors. We see the rear metal backing (although this is aluminum alloy and not LiquidMetal,) a spot for a much smaller dock connector, and larger speaker grilles as well. In addition, the sides of the device are incorporated into the back piece, and it appears that the headphone jack has been moved to the bottom as well, similar to the iPod touch.

Of course this is all rumor and speculation at this point, and even if real, plans can change at any time. Continue reading for more images!

Devil Is Due In Dreary 2Let's take a quick look at some of my favorite Kickstarter projects and see how they're doing.

The Devil Is Due In Dreary is really close to getting fully funded. There's not much time left, so go over there and check it out.

"Two strangers with a questionable past arrive in the reclusive town of Dreary and unknowingly fulfill a prophecy the town believes will precede the coming of the apocalypse." This looks like a very fun and original project, deserving of support.

GarlicksI love funny stuff and after reading about Lea Hernandez’s new Kickstarter program for her graphic novel, The Garlicks, I knew I wanted it.

According to Lea’s PR material, The Garlicks is “a webcomic/graphic novel about a vampire girl, for girls.” But guys apparently dig it too and it’s a lot of fun. You can check out some archived strips at the Garlicks website.

Lea’s going to serialize three color pages each week on her site and the Kickstarter fund is to finance those strips and the publication of the first story into a nice 148-page trade, with an introduction by Scary Godmother’s Jill Thompson.

But what is The Garlicks? Says Lea, “It’s a vampire tale, told from the POV of Pandora, a vampire with zero vampire abilities and the big sister of baby Pamila (who's usually called Ham), who seems to have gotten everything Pandora  didn't, like being able to shapeshift into an adorable flying fish and eat meat.”

Funnies Extra!Ad sales is one of the hardest jobs I can think of that doesn’t involve actual physical work. It's all phone calls, meetings, presentations, networking - y'know, sales.

A new company called Funnies Extra! is looking for an ad sales person for a “new full-color comics newspaper called "Funnies Extra!" The job is commission only - so you sell ads, you get $.

“Print publication ad sales experience preferred but not required” is you’re a “self-starter, a great communicator, organized and energetic.”

ThanosNext week, we'll all be talking about Men In Black III, but this week was still a lot of chatter about Joss Whedon's The Avengers. Let's hit that:

Avengers creators assemble! Here’s a short but excellent interview with Jim Starlin, courtesy of Hero Complex and Geoff Boucher. It’s super-spoilery so if you haven’t seen the movie yet, don’t click!

And speaking of Avengers, here’s writer Lance Mannion’s review, titled “The Romance Of Tony Stark.”

Tim at Balloon Juice views The Avengers: “It’s a Whedon movie, and quite a good one. Every other line of dialogue could end up on a t-shirt, characters come across as layered and real, conflicts involve profound philosophical differences where it is only sometimes clear who has the ‘right’ side of it, and one or more title character will have a very near-death experience.”

Prime #1Who knew that a corner of the internets would be talking about Malibu Comics' Ultraverse this week?

A recent podcast interview with Steve Englehart opened up the Ultraverse files with his belief about why Marvel won't publish Ultraverse titles or use the characters these days. Bleeding Cool linked to the podcast and a gathering of commenters soon followed.

BC followed up the original post with a subsequent one involving comments made by Marvel’s Tom Brevoort about BC’s original post.

Not to be outdone, Heidi at Comics Beat uncovered the news that Malibu Comics co-founder Scott Rosenberg's non-publishing IP holding company, Platinum Studios was having tremendous problems. That opened up a discussion of the origins of Men In Black, now that the new movie in the franchise is out.

So enjoy your blast from comics' past!
