PRIE Tunetag ID Case for iPod nano

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Portable Audio / Video,
Here’s how to allow just about anyone fast enough to steal your iPod nano with ease. Tunewear’s new PRIE Tunetag ID case is like an around-the-neck ID badge holder, but the main feature of the unit is that it has a dedicated compartment for the iPod nano. Now, you can also store other things like cash, credit cards, and identification, but why put all that around your neck instead of tucked away safely? After all, Steve Jobs said that the little change pocket on yoru jeans was really built for the nano, didn’t he? Still, if you must have one, you can get it for $29.95 USD.

Okay, so Microsoft has been continually saying that we should expect about 20 games to be available on November 22 for Xbox 360 launch. At X05, we got a glimpse at what we could expect to see on store shelves. At X05Microsoft confirmed eight launch titles, five of which are from Electronic Arts: Project Gotham Racing 3, Kameo: Elements of Power, Perfect Dark Zero, Madden NFL 06, NBA Live 06, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, FIFA 06, and Need for Speed Most Wanted. So Google is demonstrating their latest product, Google Reader, right now at Web 2.0. This is Google’s foray into the RSS reader market, using a GMail-like web interface to display one’s various feeds. Being that the service just launched, it is moving at a snail’s pace, even on my 8.0Mbps cable line. However, feel free to give it a shot - go ahead and add our feed to your Google Reader list!

Silver 80GB iPod on October 12, No Video

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Portable Audio / Video, Rumors,
Man, Apple just knows how to get the ol’ Internets all riled up, don’t they? Now it seems that, according to Think Secret, there will not be an iPod video unveiling at the October 12 press show. Instead, they think we can expect small upgrades to the current iPod line which would include an 80GB iPod, and a new silver color option. We should also expect updates Power Macs and PowerBooks. Now, call me crazy, but isn’t 80GB just a tad large for an iPod that is solely dedicated to music? Time will tell.

Google Local and Google Maps Come Out of Beta

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Internet, Transportation,
The thing about Google is that they are perfectly happy releasing a product under the Beta tag, and leaving it there, right? Not so with Google Local and Google Maps. The services have been combined under the Google Local brand, with the maps now offering hours of operation, links to reviews, and other local business information under the “Details” tab of the address bubble. Pretty nifty.

Hold up, Oakley’s THUMP glasses did well enough to warrant a sequel? Lil’ John must have spent a pretty penny on these bad boys. Nonetheless, look for the Oakley THUMP 2 to hit retail by the end of October ‘05 with 1GB of storage for $449 USD, and 512MB for $349 USD. The THUMP 2 glasses and MP3 player hybrid will support MP3, WMA, WAV, and iTunes AAC. Users will use a USB 2.0 connection to move their music over to the THUMP 2 glasses.

While we haven’t been at the pumpkin carving forefront over the past few years, we certainly welcome the opportunity to use a Dremel tool on something that, if ruined, we won’t cry about. That is what makes the Dremel Pumpkin Carving Kit such a draw. Complete with detailed instructions for carving elaborate designs into the squash, the Dremel tool sells for $30.
