Here’s just a little tip for those of you looking for you iPod serial number. In case your are wondering why you would do it, check out this guy’s story:
My iPod was recently stolen out of my car, and in the process of reporting it to the police, they asked for the serial number. I was at a loss to provide it, seeing as how my iPod had been stolen.
Anyway, I was playing around in iTunes and went to the iPod tab in Preferences to see if it had the serial number anywhere. It didn’t appear to be there, but when I went to click another tab, I accidentally clicked where it said “No iPod Connected.” It turned into “Last iPod Connected: XYZ123,” where XYZ123 was the serial number of my iPod.
I guess if you are filing a police report it is best to have this information handy. Hopefully this won’t happen to any of you, but this can also be useful if you lose your iPod at school or work and have an idea of who may have done it.

This is a conversation starter on the green. A solar powered golf bag that allows you to charge your favorite devices on it.
...it comes with charging points for over 250 cellphones, Smartphones and PDAs.
I’d end up taking a Powerbook, find an Internet connection, log the weather conditions, and figure out the best way to improve my handicap. Then I’d realize that I’m more of a geek than a golfer. Sigh.

Good news for all monkey fans: Sony’s in the early development stages of a new Ape Escape title. Specifically, Sony is looking for programmers, designers, and other staffers. Even though the game isn’t officially stated as being developed for the PS3, we’re sure it is. After all, with the game’s development process just gearing up now, we would expect to see the game release for another year or two - and the PS3 will certainly be on the market by then.

Kotaku is reporting of an anonymous individual planning on selling E3 tickets on eBay. Supposedly, he’s planning on starting the bidding at $100 for two tickets.
When there’s profit to be made, someone will make it - surely you remember back a month or two ago when Xbox 360s were going to insanely high prices shortly after launch.
At any rate, if you’re interested in bidding on those passes, here’s a word of advice: be careful. Some of the E3 passes require photo ID and industrial credentials at the door upon obtaining a badge. You’d be a lot safer bidding on an actual badge rather than a simple pass.

No Halo 3 in 2006?
Posted by Brandon Gribin Categories: First Person Shooters, Release Dates, Rumors, Xbox 360,
A GameStop insider claims that he received word via a company e-mail that Halo 3 won’t be coming in 2006.
In fact, here’s exactly what the reported e-mail says:
“Microsoft has stated that Halo 3 WILL NOT be released in 2006.”
Personally I don’t believe it. We all know that if Microsoft can get Halo 3 out the door in 2006, they will. But even if the game won’t make it out this year, why would Microsoft already be telling Gamestop? Telling Gamestop to forget about Halo 3 in ‘06 would kill hype for Halo 3, along with the 360, and probably lead more people to begin pre-ordering PS3s, and not purchase 360s, since they won’t be planning on needing a new Xbox for Halo 3 this year.
What’s with these Gamestop employees and rumors?
Apple Looking for Developers for 10.5?
Posted by Edwin Soto Categories: Apple, Corporate News, Software,
Steve Jobs and the gang are busily working on the next build of 10.4, but that’s not stopping them from advertising the fact they need some help with the next version of Finder. That is, the one for OS X 10.5, or Leopard. This ad was published on Apple’s site:
- Participate in all of the various stages of feature development from design brainstorms, through feature development, all the way to fixing that last critical elusive bug under a tight release deadline.
- You will be required to produce clear designs, excellent implementation and tight code.
- Deliver tight, well implemented features, fix bugs and develop Finder into the best file browser on the planet.
- Work on performance and responsiveness of the Finder, making it feel lightweight, fast, snappy and pleasant to use.
Mac Rumors tell us that one of the things that have been said about 10.5 is “extensive use of Spotlight alongside an improved user interface and performance improvement.” My application was just rejected because they said I was a “fanboy.”

A free DVD is slated to come with any MGS3: Subsistence pre-order. The DVD, entitled ‘Metal Gear Saga,’ interviews with some of the folks who made the game, concept art, and easter eggs. The game ships March 18th. Although we haven’t gone hands on with the new edition, it’s looking great. MGS3 is one of our favorite PS2 games - and the additions to the game sound great - so if you haven’t checked the original out yet, either find it now (probably for a low price) or pre-order Subsistence.

PlayStation Sales Contribute to Sony Profits
Posted by Brandon Gribin Categories: Corporate News, PlayStation 2, PSP,
Sony released strong results for its fiscal third quarter. Net profit and sales were substantially than they were a year ago for the company. Furthermore, PSP and PS2 brought the game division’s profits to $589 million from last year’s $387 million.
Thinking about these results for a minute though, sales clearly should have been higher. The PSP simply wasn’t out a year ago so any income brought in from it is greater than nothing (what it brought in a year ago!). Still, Sony has a great understanding of the industry. We’d be interested in seeing what kind of profits were made separately for the company’s PS2 and PSP.

File this under “what in the heck?!”. A Japanese company has developed what is essentially an endoscope for home use called the Earscope GXL. The device is designed to allow you to see inside your ears as you clean them. Ignoring what we’ve heard all our lives about never sticking anything inside our ears, the Earscope will provide you a larger-than-life view of your eardrum seconds before you pierce it. Other uses for the Earscope abound and we’ll just leave those up to your imagination. Videos of the Earscope in action can be had for your viewing

Best Buy to Start Rebate Elimination Program
Posted by Edwin Soto Categories: Corporate News, Hot Deals,
If you are an electronics collector like we are, you know how expensive this hobby can be. Every payday you look at your wallet or purse and wonder what you can afford. So what do you do when you get to the store? Look for the specials, see what’s on sale, and sometimes you come across the rebate sale. You sit there and wonder whether or not your willing to shell out the 30-40 dollars that you’ll eventually get back in 6-8 weeks. Is it worth it? Apparently not to Best Buy.
Rebates offered by the manufacturers are being done away with at the big box retailer in lieu of instant savings. There will be less reading of the fine print on prices. This is all due to “strong vendor partnerships.” Translation: Best Buy is getting good prices for their merchandise and can afford to let them slide for cheaper every once in a while.
