TrashcadeIf you are looking to hook up your game room with an arcade cabinet, but don’t have the funds to drop on a retro rig, here is a mod that can get you what you want. All those cardboard boxes you have in storage from the multitudes of gadgets you have purchased in recent times can now be put to good use. Get out the old packing tape, scissors, and your thinking cap and you can build your very own TrashCade - a completely suitable (and horribly ugly) desktop workstation/arcade dream machine. All the instructions you need to build the thing can be found at the TrashCade site. If you build one, point us to the images so that we can all laugh at you.

Hoverboard

All the kids in the 80’s wanted one of those Back to the Future 2 hoverboards that Marty McFly rode oh so gingerly. Now you can finally live out your dream, as you can now buy the blueprints to make one of these bad boys right in your backyard. When you are done, you will be one hoverin’ fool. The blueprints cost $49 USD if you want them delivered by mail, or $39 USD if you don’t mind receiving them by email. Of course, if you aren’t the “building type”, you can also buy a pre-made hoverboard for 9 G’s. Yeah, for $9,000 large, you can order your very own. Check out this video to see how it works.

Hypersonic Woody NorrisUSA Today says, “Rarely is an invention so unique, so visceral and so simple that in 15 seconds most people who experience it realize it could alter everyday life.” I have yet to experience this HSS (Hypersonic Sound), but it does sound truly incredible. American Technology Corp (ATC) has given a demonstration of HSS in it’s back parking lot and it’s being said that this invention does for sound what the laser did for light. Imagine standing 100 yards away from someone and they point this device at you, which allows you to perfectly hear either what the person is saying or any pre-recorded material being broadcast. You step out of the line-of-sight and hear nothing. Step back in and you hear it perfectly again. Someone else could hear something completely separate in a different line-of-sight sent from an additional source.  Interesting technology with some profound uses in safety, criminal justice, medicine, automotives, and sound systems. This is one that we’re likely to hear lots more about, as in 2002 Popular Science magazine awarded HSS the grand prize for inventions. The Segway personal transporter took second.

With the NTT DoCoMo binoculars with built-in object recognition technology, you can focus on a passing plane and have a digital readout tell you its flight number and destination; or you could focus on some foliage and the binocs will tell you their garden variety. NTT DoCoMo has plans to put this technology to use for bargain shopper types by explaining that some form of this technology could be used to focus on an item in a shop and get a price comparison. Most likely, these days you’ll get an excellent review and/or an advertisement.

DescriptionMitch Fincher had a lot of time on his hands, so for his senior technical presentation he decided to stack pennies. Now, take a close look at the image. This isn’t easy. The weight of the pennies is what supports the structure - no glue needed. While it may be the most boring hobby in the world, you gotta give the guy props. Check out his site for more penny stacking projects of his. Really nice work there.

Limousine JetIt really doesn’t get much more upscale than this. In what has to be the ultimate mod, a gentleman by the name of “Limo Bob” took a Boeing jet and turned it into a super-stretch limousine. The vehicle no longer has wings or a tail, but you can definitely tell that this was an aircraft at one point in its history. Step inside and you will find a heart shaped bedroom, bathroom, first class, and VIP class areas. The cockpit is still intact as well, and this thing is street legal. If you want it, you are gonna have to grab it on eBay. Current bid is $300,600 USD.

Transparent Screens

It’s always great to see what some free time, creativity, a notebook, and a digital camera can do. The results are illusions of transparent desktops on various notebooks. At first you might say, “Ah, that’s easy” (much like I said at first) – boy was I wrong. These are harder to accomplish then it seems. You must first get the right angle with your camera, take the shot, upload it, set it as your desktop and adjust the screen to match. Seems pretty simple, right? Try it out for yourself and let us know how the result came out.

OmniTread Snake-like Robot

Engineers from the University of Michigan have developed a snake-like robot that conquers obstacles. It is composed of 5 segments which are 8 inches in diameter and weigh 26 pounds. Piloted by a human operator, the OmniTread can maneuver in extremely rugged terrain, even climbing stairs and pipes. “It moves by rolling, log-style, or by lifting its head or tail, inchworm-like, and muscling itself forward.” This robot will be used for industrial inspection and surveillance in hazardous environments, and also for military and urban search and rescue operations. It’s actually pretty cool, which you can see for yourself in this video.

If you really want to increase your breast size, grab something that will actually do the trick! Apparently, the B2Up Bust Up Gum product is supposed to be able to increase breast size by up to 80% if chewed 3-4 times per day. How does it accomplish such an amazing feat? The gum is made with contains the plant extract Pueraria mirifica, which releases a few natural chemicals into the chewers body. The chemicals are very close in chemical structure to oestradiol, the main human oestrogen. The end result are fuller breasts, nicer hair, and increased blood circulation.
