HP iPrint Photo Application for iPhone

HP has developed a free application for your iPhone or iPod touch. iPrint Photo lets you print a photo stored on your device wirelessly to most HP ink jet printers. You can make the image either 4 x 6-inch or 10 x 15 cm. The app is available for downloading at the App Store if your handheld firmware is version 2.0 or higher. HP promises a simple operation so check out their site for more details.

It features an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, Intel Centrino 2 with Intel vPro tech, a 12.1-inch WXGA TFT with indoor/outdoor wide view display and 1 GB DDR3 800 MHz memory. Verizon Rolling Out 4G LTE Mobile Broadband In 2009

Verizon Wireless is taking a stand - in the race to deploy 4G LTE mobile broadband service, they don’t want to come in second to AT&T or Japan’s NTT DoCoMo, the latter of which said it would offer such a network commercially in 2010. According to executive vice president and chief technology officer of Verizon Communications, Dick Lynch, they plan to begin rolling the enhanced network capabilities out by about this time next year, ahead of the original 2010 timetable.
The original plan called for initial rollouts in 2010, with a wide commercial launch in 2011 and true mass availability coming shortly after. But according to an IDC analyst, Verizon’s new, more aggressive deployment schedule was likely inspired by the threat of launching after another company. Verizon wants to be first! Can you blame them? They don’t have the iPhone...
If you’re wondering what LTE is, it’s a fourth-generation wireless data system expected to be the next step up in speed and capacity for carriers using the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) platform, which is dominant in most of the world. Like Sprint Nextel’s already deployed (in one city) WiMax, it should deliver multiple megabits per second of throughput.
After introducing LTE, Verizon plans to offer subscribers small in-home base stations known as femtocells, which will extend the signal indoors - likely including built-in Wi-Fi, which will allow newer personal electronics such as cameras to automatically exchange information over the air. Imagine getting home from a trip and having your pictures automatically upload to the internet once you walk through the door. This may be a reality sooner than you think.

The Danish company Zepto has launched their Notus A12 notebook. The computer has an 800MHz Intel CPU, 1GB of RAM and a 12.1-inch LED WXGA with 1280x800 max resolution. With an 80GB, 4,2000 rpm hard drive, it also features a waterproof keyboard, integrated WiFi and an Ethernet connection. Optional are Windows Vista or XP, an additional 1GB memory, an external DVD burner and TV tuner. Prices start at ~$1,380.00.

Novatel MiFi gives you a personal 3G Wi-Fi hotspot

Novatel has just announced the future release of their new MiFi 3G portable hotspot, and we are officially excited. Using the MiFi, you’ll be able to grab the signal from your EV-DO Rev. A or HSPA account, and share it over Wi-Fi to a group. For example, you can hit up Starbucks with two buddies, break out the MiFi, and all three of you can hit the Internet without paying for Starbucks Wi-Fi three times. The MiFi device itself looks just as awesome as its usage scenarios, as it just as long and wide as a credit card, and isn’t really that tall. Novatel is also touting that the battery will last for 4 hours when used actively, and 40 hours when on standby. Nice.
Mark our words - we are going to be keeping an eye on the news leading up to the Novatel MiFi official release. Expect to see if available for purchase in for first half of 2009.

Cowon S9 MP3 Player

It’s been about a year since we heard about the Korean company Cowon, but the holidays tend to bring all the electronics makers out. Their newest MP3 Player is the S9 with a 3.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen with 480 x 272 pixels. With a 500MHz dual-core CPU, it features Bluetooth capability, an FM tuner, T-DMB digital TV, a G-Sensor accelerometer and an electronic dictionary. The player will have 55 hours of music or 11 hours of video playback and 350 hours on standby.

Truphone Adapted for iPod touch

Truphone can now be applied to the iPod touch and will turn the music player into a cell phone with a free download. Utilizing WiFi, users can call other touch owners as well as Google Talk messaging service customers with minimal or no charges. They also plan to make calls with landlines part of the program. Truline’s interest is in devices that have app stores and are wireless. Next on their agenda, they plan to tackle the Android operating system.

Sanyo has taken their basic clock radio design and created something that does much more. The R227 can also play Internet radio stations and podcasts with no subscription fee involved. The device connects via WiFi or ethernet and the company says it has enhanced sound quality. It also features a lighted LED, snooze and sleep to radio functions and access to shared music files on the same network. It can search by country or genre and users can add new stations. With 8 presets and a black lacquer-finished cabinet, the Internet Radio carries a MSRP of $169.99.
