Kesha Still Grounded Despite Fame

Ke$ha says a poor upbringing helps her keep her feet on the ground now that she has an international hit single.
“I can’t stand pretentious people. I think growing up without money has taught me not to take myself seriously,” she explained. “I’m the same person I when I was selling clothes to buy a taco for dinner, I just have a few extra bucks.”
The “Tik Tok” singer also said that when she got her first paycheck after becoming famous, she didn’t splash out on any lavish or expensive gifts for herself.
“I bought a 1998 Honda car, which I needed. I don’t believe in wasting money when there are people in the world who can’t eat. If I earn a lot of money, I’ll treat myself, but I’m not going to be ridiculous. I think it’s kind of gross,” she said. “I don’t like spending money on stuff. I may buy some instruments though.”

Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z have topped a poll of Hollywood’s highest-earning couples compiled by Forbes.com, with combined earnings of $122 million between June 2008 and June 2009.
The singer and her hip-hop mogul husband amassed the massive sum through their music, movies, fragrances and endorsement deals with brands including Budweiser and American Express.
Their earnings were almost double that of runners-up Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart, whose $69 million was largely based on Harrison’s $65 million Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull paycheck. (That amount still put them $14 million above third-placed Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.)

Bono Not Worth the Money

Bono thinks he is “overpaid.”
The U2 rocker - who is worth an estimated $660 million - says he devotes so much of his time to charitable projects because he believes he has more money than he deserves to have.
Speaking at the launch of Nike’s “Lace Up. Save Lives” campaign - which raises money for HIV charity (Red) - he said: “These guys are very wealthy. I am very well paid, overpaid and even over-rewarded for what I do. But a lot of these soccer guys are giving something back and they don’t need to do that.”
Meanwhile, Bono admits he and his bandmates are “delighted and humbled” to have been asked to headline next year’s Glastonbury Festival, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
