Oasis to Re-Release ‘Definitely Maybe’

Oasis' 'Definitely Maybe'Oasis is re-releasing their debut album Definitely Maybe with previously unheard tracks to celebrate the LP's 20th anniversary.

The band - who split in August 2009 after brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher had a huge backstage bust-up in Paris, France - sent the internet into meltdown yesterday after teasing an announcement at 9:00 am this morning, prompting speculation of a reunion. But instead they revealed plans to bring out a new version of their acclaimed debut record - which will be available from May 19. The anticipation of a possible reunion saw fans crash their official website oasisinet.com.

The re-issue is the first in the Chasing The Sun series from Big Brother Recordings - the brothers' own record label - with "What's the Story (Morning Glory)?" and "Be Here Now" also set to be re-released.

Noel Gallagher Slams Arcade Fire

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Gossip, Pop, Rock, New Releases,

Noel GallagherNoel Gallagher thinks that Arcade Fire are "arrogant" for releasing a double album.

The "Everybody's On The Run" singer says he hasn't heard the band's new record Reflektor and he doesn't have time to listen to so many tracks. "I haven't heard it. Anybody that comes back with a double album, to me, needs to pry themselves out of their own a**hole. This is not the Seventies, okay? Go and ask Billy Corgan [The Smashing Pumpkins] about a double album. Who has the ####### time, in 2013, to sit through 45 minutes of a single album? How arrogant are these people to think that you've got an hour and a half to listen to a f**king record?" he told Rolling Stone.

The former Oasis guitarist, 45, said it was a "shame" David Bowie chose to work with the band on the record but hailed his comeback album The Next Day as a "masterpiece." He's also become a fan of Kanye West after hearing "Black Skinhead" at a party, but the musician thinks Robin Thicke is a "one-hit wonder" and his song "Blurred Lines" irritates him: "I don't mind it. It sounded good on the radio. Got a bit annoying after the five millionth time you've heard it. I think he's going to be a one-hit wonder, surely. It'll be like that guy who's done 'Gangnam Style' - we'll never hear from him again."

Oasis Will Never Reunite

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Reunions, Alternative, Rock,

OasisOasis will never reunite because they have nothing to achieve. The group split in August 2009 due to the feud between brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher and the guitarist thinks there is no point in them getting back together because they could never be bigger than they were at their peak.

"I get asked on a daily basis about a reunion and I say to people, 'To achieve what?' I can understand The Stone Roses because they're bigger now than they ever were. We couldn't be bigger than we were because we were the biggest thing that ever was. What do we do - three nights at [venues] Wembley? Three nights at Heaton Park? Knebworth? We already did it all. Do it again? What's the point?" Noel said.

Noel believes it is more important that Beady Eye - the band formed by Liam and the remaining members of Oasis - should work on living up to the claims they made about their music when they first got together. "They've got things to do, Beady Eye. They've got a lot of graft to do since their singer proclaimed them to be the greatest band in the f***ing world. They need to get a move on with that. I've got no desire to get into a reunion. Not even for starving children," he added.

Madonna Takes Swipe at Lady Gaga

Madonna and Lady GagaMadonna appears to have taken a swipe at Lady Gaga during rehearsals for her MDNA tour.

The 53-year-old singer took a pop at her younger rival as she performed "Express Yourself" on stage in Israel before launching into Gaga's "Born This Way," which has often been accused of being overly similar to her own song. Madonna then seemed to confirm that she was making a dig at Lady Gaga by singing "She's Not Me" from her 2008 album Hard Candy, in leaked video footage which has appeared on YouTube.

This isn't the first time Madonna has referenced the similarities between the two songs. "I thought, 'What a wonderful way to redo my song.' I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was... interesting," she previously said.

Other musicians have also weighed in on the debate with Noel Gallagher calling Gaga, who is currently on her Born This Way Ball world tour: "I don't give a f***ing monkey's about Lady Gaga. It's all about the meat suit and the controversy. Is it about music? Really? She's got the publicity side sorted, but where's the f***ing music. Her album gets played a lot around my house by my daughter and it's Madonna-lite. Madonna was hardcore. She took it to the edge musically as well as everything else. Twenty years from now, will we listen to Lady Gaga? No. She might think she is making a stand for the freaks and the weirdos. But they're not going to have any decent f***ing music to play are they?"

Liam Gallagher Feeling Confident Post-Oasis

Liam Gallagher

says his songs with his new band are better than before. The 37-year-old singer has been working with every member of Oasis, except brother Noel who quit the group in August, on fresh material and plans to have an album out by July.

He told MTV Italy:

“We’ve been demoing some songs that we’ve had about, that we’ve had for a while. Just doing that, on the quiet, not making a big fuss about it. After Christmas we might go in the studio and record them and hopefully have an album out in July. We’ll do it in a different kind of way now. I’ll try and reconnect with a new band, new songs, and I’m feeling confident about the songs. I’m feeling a million percent confident that they could be better than .”

Jay-Z May Collaborate with Oasis’ Liam Gallagher

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Collaborations, Hip-Hop & Rap, Rock,

Liam Gallagher

has urged Liam Gallagher to call him about a collaboration after learning hip-hop star Snoop Dogg wants to work with Liam’s brother Noel.

Noel recently quit Oasis following a series of rows with his brother. He also clashed with Jay-Z last year after criticizing the decision to have the rapper headline the Glastonbury music festival.

“I hear Snoop Dogg might be teaming up with Noel. If that’s the case then I would love to work with Liam,” Jay-Z said. “Their music is tight and I think we could blend our styles well. When I teamed up with Linkin Park nobody expected that to work but we made a massive success of it. The same could happen with Liam. When you have two artists like us in a room just throwing about ideas you come up with something brilliant fairly easily. I don’t know what he is up to now but he can give me a call.”
