Joseph Gordon-Levitt Developing Little Shop of Horrors

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to star in a remake of 1960s movie Little Shop of Horrors.
The Inception actor is in line to portray Seymour, a nerdy florist who has to feed a giant, human-eating plant to keep his fame rising, in the comedy-horror musical motion picture. Glee writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is expected to pen the script for the movie, with Marc Platt - who was behind Broadway production Wicked - producing the film, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The original 1960s motion picture - which starred Jonathan Haze and Jackie Joseph - has already been remade once in 1986, starring Rick Moranis and Ellen Greene.
Joseph will appear as John Blake in The Dark Knight Rises later this year, and the 31-year-old star is due to direct and star in a new as-yet untitled comedy movie with Scarlett Johansson, which he has written the script for. "I wrote myself a helluva role, one that people wouldn't necessarily thought of me for. This is the first time I finished a feature film I thought was good enough to make into a movie. I've written others, including one mammothy huge sprawling thing that encompasses my entire point of view of everything since I was 20 years old," he explained.

Gary Ross Lined up for Houdini

Gary Ross is set to direct Houdini.
The filmmaker - who recently directed the first installment of The Hunger Games - is in negotiations to helm the big screen adaptation of The Secret Life of Houdini, The Making of America's First Superhero, William Kalush and Larry Sloman's biography of escapologist Harry Houdini. The book is famed for insinuating Houdini acted as a spy for Britain, helped the Secret Service and was in cahoots with police organizations.
Summit Entertainment picked up feature-film rights to the book in March 2009 with the aim of launching an action-thriller franchise and Noah Oppenheim wrote the most recent draft of the script.
Ross - who has previously helmed Pleasantville and Seabiscuit - recently pulled out of directing the sequel to The Hunger Games with Francis Lawrence replacing him. Although Ross is yet to sign up, bosses are hoping he will agree to do it, but he is known for being very choosy about his projects.
Tom Cruise to Star in Van Helsing Remake

Tom Cruise is to star in a reimagining of Van Helsing.
The Mission: Impossible actor will also produce the remake of the 2004 Hugh Jackman vampire movie alongside Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci's K/O Paper Products in one of the pair's first works under their new two-year first-look production deal with Universal Pictures. The film is expected to be released in 2016.
Alex and Roberto will also tackle a remake of The Mummy as part of their new deal and are delighted to be working with Universal Pictures long-term. "We're thrilled to call Universal Pictures our home. From the moment we sat down with Adam Fogelson [chairman], Donna [Langley, co-chairman] , Peter, Jeff and the entire Uni team, there was an instant flow of inspired ideas. They really understand the importance of building a strong creative team and giving our shared projects their full support. We're proud to start making movies that will live as part of Universal's enduring legacy," they said in a statement.

Adam McKay to Direct Uptown Saturday Night Remake?

Adam McKay is in talks to direct the remake of comedy Uptown Saturday Night.
The Anchorman director is expected to start work on the project after completing the sequel to the Will Ferrell comedy, which is set for an early 2013 start and 2014 release. Will Smith and Denzel Washington are in line to star in the film with the Men in Black star and James Lassiter's Overbrook Entertainment developing the movie, Deadline reports.
The 1974 motion picture - which starred Bill Cosby, Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte and Flip Wilson - sees friends Steve Jackson (Sidney) and Wardell Franklin (Bill) partying at a illegal nightclub when they are forced to hand over their wallets to masked bandits. But the day after Steve learns that his wallet contained a winning lottery ticket, so the pair enlist the help of underworld crime bosses and fake detectives as they set out to get his winnings back.
Timothy Dowling - who wrote the script for This Means War - is in line to pen the movie and he has previously described the film as having a "similar tone" to 2009 comedy The Hangover.

Amazing Spider-Man Sequel Confirmed

A sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man is being written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
Despite the film - starring Andrew Garfield as the web-slinging hero and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy - not being released until July 3, studio Sony are keen to create a follow-up, which is planned to hit cinemas on May 2, 2014.
"Alex and Bob have a unique ability to write a great character and spectacular action that makes them pitch perfect for Spider-Man. They have an innate understanding of what makes Peter Parker not just a superhero but a hero for us all," said Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad - who are producing the project - in a statement.
Roberto and Alex are best known for their work on the reboot of the Star Trek franchise, directed by J.J Abram and starring Chris Pine as Captain Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock.
The sequel is expected to go into production in the first quarter of 2013.
Ben Kingsley to Star in Iron Man 3

Ben Kingsley is to appear in Iron Man 3. The Hugo actor is in final negotiations to star in the forthcoming Marvel blockbuster as an enemy of Tony Stark/Iron Man - played by Robert Downey Jr. - though the exact details of the character are being kept under wraps.
Variety, however, reports the villain is expected involved in the spread of a virus through nanobots because the film is believed to be loosely based on the 2005 Extremis comicbook series. News of the story arc may disappoint some fans as it had previously been speculated the next movie in the series would see the titular character take on his original archenemy the Mandarin, a wealthy Chinese scientist and martial arts exert who backed the warlord who imprisoned Stark.
Jon Favreau - who directed the first two films in the franchise - had previously expressed an interest in exploring the character, but he has moved on from the series, with Shane Black at the helm of Iron Man 3. Shane is also co-writing the script with Drew Pearce.

Woman in Black Sequel Planned

A Woman in Black follow-up is in development. Studio Hammer is teaming with Alliance Films and Cross Creek Pictures to work on the project, which will be called The Woman in Black: Angels of Death and will take place 40 years after the original movie.
Jon Croker - who worked as a story editor on the first film - will write the picture, with Roy Lee executively producing. It is not believed Daniel Radcliffe, who played the leading character in the first movie, will return as the story will focus on a couple who move into eerie Eel Marsh House four decades after the setting of the original. No director has yet been signed up either.
The Woman in Black has so far taken $120 million at the box office internationally, and marked the first major movie for Daniel following his career in the Harry Potter franchise. Speaking about his break away from playing the boy wizard previously, Daniel revealed his working from a young age made him protective over other youngsters on set:

Michael Fassbender found it difficult to play a computer with emotions in Prometheus.
The X-Men: First Class actor portrays a leading role in the Ridley Scott-directed movie - alongside Charlize Theron and Noomi Rapace - and admits it is hard to play an "advanced" version of a human in the movie.
"He's hyper-intelligent. His physicality is more advanced than human beings. So, people don't really embrace him. He's sort of used and abused. How does that make him feel, if robots can feel? You're essentially trying to build a computer that has a physicality to it, that can respond and understand human behavior. It's programmed to be able to incorporate itself within a human environment. I just try and explore what's happening within the scene, moment to moment," he said.

Lily Collins to Join Writers

Lily Collins is to star in Writers.
The Mirror, Mirror actress will appear alongside Greg Kinnear, Jennifer Connelly and Kristen Bell in the Josh Boone-directed movie.
The film tells the story of a famous novelist and the ex-wife, he's obsessed with, who will be played by Greg and Jennifer respectively. Lily will play their college-aged daughter who finds herself the subject of romantic obsession courtesy of a fellow student.
Writers will apparently spin several interweaving stories of the various family members and other people in their lives.
Shooting starts later this month.
Toy Story 4 In The Works?

Andrew Stanton admits Toy Story 4 is a "possibility."
The John Carter director has previously written all of the Toy Story animated movies - about the secret lives of a group of play things owned by a young boy - and although he admits he has to "come up" with something good, he is not scared by the prospect.
"There's always the possibility for a new movie, it just comes down to only if there's a story good enough. We've set the bar so high with the previous three movies that as much as people want a fourth nobody wants an inferior movie so we've got to come up with something good," Andrew told BANG Showbiz when speaking at the UK premiere of John Carter.
With his new movie, Andrew admits he was delighted to get Taylor Kitsch on board because people find him hard to "stop watching."
"Taylor just has that X Factor. Do you really need to ask me? Can you not see the Taylor effect? You can't describe it, there's something about him that you just can't stop watching and you mix that with his charisma and that he's a really great actor."
