Meryl Streep Surprised She Gets Work at 60

It’s Complicated actress Meryl Streep admits that she’s past her “sell by date.”
The Oscar-winning actress can’t believe she’s still be offered roles in high-profile movies now she’s reached 60 as she knows Hollywood discriminates against older women:
“It’s incredible - I’m 60, and I’m playing the romantic lead in romantic comedies. Bette Davis is rolling over in her grave. I’ve been given great, weird, interesting parts well past my ‘sell by date.’ I remember saying to my husband Don when I was 38, ‘Well, it’s over.’ And then we kicked the can down the road a little further.”
Meryl - who won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in Sophie’s Choice and the Best Supporting Actress for Kramer Vs Kramer - also says she’s given up worrying what people think of her.
She told Vanity Fair, “I can’t remember the last time I really worried about being appealing. I think it was a really long time ago. It’s freeing as an actress, but whether a director likes it or not is a different thing. I remember [director and co-star] Albert Brooks saying to me in Defending Your Life, ‘Could you just make it a little sweeter?’ And that’s been repeated by other people in the years since then.”

Quote of the Day: Rupert Everett Advises Gay Actors to Stay Closeted
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity Controversy,

“The fact is that you could not be, and still cannot be, a 25-year-old homosexual trying to make it in the British film business or the American film business or even the Italian film business. It just doesn’t work and you’re going to hit a brick wall at some point. You’re going to manage to make it roll for a certain amount of time, but at the first sign of failure they’ll cut you right off. And I’m sick of saying, ‘Yes, it’s probably my own fault.’ Because I’ve always tried to make it work and when it stops working somewhere, I try to make it work somewhere else. But the fact of the matter is, and I don’t care who disagrees, it doesn’t work if you’re gay… It’s not that advisable to be honest. It’s not very easy. And, honestly, I would not advise any actor necessarily, if he was really thinking of his career, to come out.”

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: 20th Century Fox, Action, Adventure, Remakes, Comedy, Casting, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Filmmaking, Upcoming Releases,
Not only was Jessica Biel a troublesome teenager, but she also happens to love working with weapons.
The Planet 51 actress recently signed up to appear in forthcoming movie remake The A-Team and is enjoying getting to grips with the action scenes.
“It’s going really, really well. I’m getting to work a lot with weapons again, which I haven’t done in a long time. We’ve got a really interesting tone going on. I was a little concerned at first about whether we were going to be really cheesy or super dark but I think we’ve found a lot of humor, at the same time that it’s quite emotional with some dramatic moments.”
The actress also admitted she found working on The Texas Chain-saw Massacre “intense” and admits is caused her to “freak-out.”
“The Texas Chain-saw Massacre was one of the hardest experiences for me, creatively and emotionally. It was intense because I was at this high level of freak out for about a month. It was just so not of this world.”

Despite his overwhelming good looks and charm, Taylor Lautner was bullied at school.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon actor says fellow pupils used to ridicule his acting ambitions, which affected his confidence but he refused to give up on his dream.
“I was never extremely confident. Because I was an actor, when I was in school there was a little bullying going on. Not physical bullying but people making fun of what I do… I just had to tell myself I can’t let this get to me. This is what love to do. And I’m going to continue to do it.”
The 17-year-old star also insisted the female attention he receives is for his character, werewolf Jacob Black, not himself.
He told America’s Rolling Stone magazine, “This could have happened to anybody who played Jacob. I was just lucky enough to be the one that has the opportunity. I’m so grateful. It’s Twilight. It’s not me personally.”
Troublesome Teenager Jessica Biel

Despite all the charity work she does today, Jessica Biel says she was a problem teenager back in the day.
The actress says she could relate to 16-year-old Neera, the alien character she voices in new animated movie Planet 51, because she was equally rebellious and opinionated when she was younger.
“I think I was just trying to create that person that I felt like I was when I was 16, which was confident, but insecure. Not that the filmmakers would have known this about me, but I so related to my character because when I was 16, I was also pushing things with my parents and the world. I thought I had it going on. I thought I knew everything so I related to her feeling of risk taking but I had a little bit more of a bad attitude as a 16-year-old. Neera is way more of a positive, charitable person than I was.”
As well as a similar personality, Jessica was also astonished by the physical similarities between herself and her green-skinned animated alter-ego.
She added, “I also noticed some physical things I do myself. It was so weird to hear my voice coming out of the character.”

When she’s not beating up guys, Ashley Greene is thinking that vampire sex is 100 times better than normal sex.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon star - who is believed to be dating Kings Of Leon rocker Jared Followill - has revealed she believes her blood-sucking on-screen persona Alice Cullen would have a much more fulfilling sex life than she does.
“Take the best sex you’ve ever had in your life, multiply it by 100 and that’s vampire sex.”
The 22-year-old actress was desperate to star in the popular vampire franchise and wishes she was more like her character: “Oh, my God, I wanted this part so badly. So when they told me I got it, I tried to play it all cool, you know, for about a minute. I love absolutely love Alice, my character. She’s sweet, sexy and a killer. I feel if I was in a real fight, I’d get my a*s kicked.”
Meanwhile, the brunette beauty has revealed there is another film franchise she wants to appear in. She explained to Maxim magazine, “I want to hit up James Bond. That would be awesome.”
When you’re in a record-breaking film, I suppose that you can aim for such franchises.
Penelope Cruz Discovers Musical Muscles

Penelope Cruz had to use muscles she hadn’t used since she was a teenager in new movie Nine.
The Spanish actress put in weeks of training for one particular scene in the musical movie - about a film director struggling in his relationships with women, in which Penelope plays the central character’s mistress - where she had to slide down a rope.
Describing the scene, Penelope said, “They mapped it out and showed me how it was done. I said I would never be able to do it but I worked and worked and regained the memory of muscles in my legs I hadn’t used since I was a teenager studying ballet.”
Penelope, 35, was rehearsing for the film’s rope scenes for three months before they were eventually completed, and was left with calluses on her hands and bleeding digits from sliding down the ropes so often.
She added to Britain’s Daily Mail, “I was stretching, running and going to the gym to get my arms strong to support me on the ropes. But with my hands, after a while you don’t feel the pain. I had the wounds dressed and carried on.”
Robin Wright Gets It Done in One Take
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Adaptation, Drama, Romance, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Filmmaking, New Releases,
Robin Wright was relieved when it only took one take to film her sex scenes with Keanu Reeves.
The actress, who recently ended her marriage to Sean Penn, found it hard to shoot parts of her new movie, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, especially when her character had to make love to Keanu’s in the back of a truck.
“Any kind of vulnerability is always hard to do. Just being exposed in that way is difficult. People say it’s hard to do those scenes revealing the blood and soul of your heart, crying. That’s easy-peasy for me. Intimacy is far more challenging. Thank God we did it in one take.”
Robin also revealed she wants fans to start remembering her for her new movies rather than 1994’s Forrest Gump and 1987’s The Princess Bride: “I love those movies, and they’re going to go down in history. They’re iconic. And I love that I’m a part of film history. But, it’s so then, and we’re now. It’s 20, 22 years ago. I’m interested in doing other things.”
Robert Downey Jr. Wants Violence

Robert Downey Jr. says he has a good day when he gets to beat people up.
The actor urged writers and the stunt department of Iron Man 2 to give his character more action scenes because they are his favorite to film.
“The action’s certainly got bigger because I went to do Sherlock Holmes, which was a real adventure. So coming back into this I really challenged our stunt team to get our hands dirty a little more because I was still kind of into that… I love it so much. There is no better day that I can have than one where I beat people up or get thrown around. I just love it. It’s supposed to be safe, but it’s a little more than acting so it’s really fun.”

“It was incredibly annoying when I saw Taylor [Lautner]‘s transformation. I realized just having a pre-pubescent girl’s body wasn’t going to work for me any more. In fact I saw him and thought ‘Jesus, I’m going to get fired.’”
